“Quaint and cosy cottage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

My partner and I and another couple stayed in Frondeg over a bank holiday and had a lovely time. The cottage is quaint but not too small and fitted us 4 very comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped for making all of our meals and when we got the fire going on one of the nights, it heated up the place beautifully. The cottage was very clean and well kept, and had all the essentials such as washing up liquid, hand soap, towels and bed sheets. The views around the cottage are absolutely stunning with mountains and hills all around.
The cottage is situated in a little cluster of other cottages with a pub called the Brigands Inn and a service station that stocked all the essentials such as milk, eggs, bread, and even wine.
I found the location to be ideal for us. We spent the days mountain biking at Coed y Brenin which was only a 30 minute drive away, and climbing Mt Snowdon which was approximately 50 minute drive away. Then went to the Brigands Inn for a well earned drink at the end of the day.
Brigands Inn is a great pub only a few meters from the door of Frondeg. The staff are friendly and the menu looks great, however we made the mistake of not booking a table during a bank holiday weekend and were disappointed to find out when we had arrived, after a big day out on Snowdon, that the place was completely booked out! Would recommend booking.

All in all a lovely place that added to a lovely weekend!

“Well fitted out and cosy cottage in a great setting”

The cottage is small, but well fitted out and extremely comfortable. Nice wood burner.
Probably best suited to a couple with two smaller children. Fine for two plus dogs.
Dog friendly.
Steep stairs, as detailed in the brochure, would be difficult for the elderly or infirm.
Do not rely on mobile phone being always available. O2 and Vodafone are borderline in the village and highly intermittent in a thick walled cottage.
The Brigands Inn which so only 100 metres away is a fine pub/restaurant.
The area is beautiful. The Dyfi/Dovey valley is magnificent and Cadar Idris area is stunning. Great beaches at Barmouth and Tywyn.

“Fantastic cottage in wonderful location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We stayed from Sunday until Friday and had a brilliant time. The cottage is excellently located for fantastic walks from the door and locally. The cottage was immaculate and well stocked with basics such as tea and coffee, washing up liquid, hand soap etc. There is lots of information in the cottage about local attractions and walks. We did one of the walks and had a wonderful day.

The cottage says that it sleeps four but could sleep more as there is one double bed, a bunk bed with double on the bottom and single on top off the main room and a sofa bed in the lounge. We stayed with our 4 month old daughter and dog and there was plenty of space.

The Garden is a great asset and enjoyed some lovely evening sunshine.

The local pub is all of 100m away and does lovely food and is very welcoming. They allow dogs :-)

My only slightly negative comment is that dogs are not allowed upstairs but this was only known once we arrived - this is completely fair enough in itself, however there is no door or gate at the bottom of the stairs so this could prove difficult.

We had a fantastic time and hope to return very soon.

“Peace and Relaxation.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

My partner and i recently stayed at this superb cottage tucked away in lovely quiet part of Wales. The thoughtful little extras left behind by the owners made for a great start to our break, the kind of extras that are easily forgotten when staying away from the comforts of your own property. Most days we enjoyed peaceful walks around the beautiful picturesque countryside surrounding the cottage and would then pop into the local public house for a few beverages early evening. We would finish the day relaxing in front of the open fire. Would recommend staying at the cottage to all friends and family, can't wait to return next year.

“A lovely little retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Just returned from a long weekend with my partner and 6 month old. Frondeg is a charming little cottage, very clean and spotless. Geoff, the owner, was extremely helpful aswell which made the stay more personal. The cottage itself, is probably the cleanest holiday home I have stayed in. The only tip I would say, if you are taking a baby, is to provide a high chair as it was quite tricky trying to feed a wriggly infant! We could of turned up with no shopping, as the cottage provided the neccasary essentials! Another blessing that i have never come across before in a holiday home. The area is absolutely beautiful. If you like a good scenic view then this is for you! Thank you again to Geoff, it was the perfect little holiday!

“What a stunning place to stay !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We found this cosy retreat after searching for something that would fit us all perfectly (2 Adults, 1 Child), and its certainly did that. Very convenient location for loads of local walks and garage, Shop and a pub just mins walk away - what more could you ask for.
The house itself is very well presented and has everything you will need, its great to have the log burner going in the evening time, with its rustic charm with a modern slant its just what we wanted, a big thank you to Geoff and Elizabeth for letting us share their beautiful house in such a nice place.
