“Nice Cottage in beautiful Abersoch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012 for a stay in April 2012

I recently stayed at this cottage in Abersoch for a birthday celebration. I personally did not make the booking but was part of a group of all girls.

The cottage was fairly easy to find with a sat nav and its postcode and is located just on the way out of town but close enough to walk to the town and the beach if you wanted to, about a 20 minute walk. There is a car park in town too at £1 an hour or a deal for the day if you didn't fancy the walk.

The views from the cottage were beautiful and we were lucky enough to avoid any April showers during our stay, from the veranda you could see the sea not far away.

The cottage is large and 'upside down', most of the bedrooms are on the ground floor as you come in along with one bathroom. The lounge area, kitchen and more bedrooms and another bathroom upstairs. The plumbing in the cottage didnt seem to be too great and toilet flushing and shower taking were a bit noisy and slow! There were also basins in every room which was useful.

Our group consisted of all girls varying in ages between 20 and 40. Most of the bedrooms are twin beds with a couple of double bedded rooms and a bunk bed room. The bunk beds are obviously more suited to children and are quite small but we were 2 adults and managed a nights sleep on them although in that room there is nowhere to sit and with the bunk beds being so small you can't physically sit up in the lower bunk. In the other bedrooms there was also a space to sit either a vanity area or a chair.

The lounge area was very spacious with large sofas and coffee tables which is great for an evening in with friends, the veranda is also situated just off the lounge area via french doors. The television didn't work during our stay but as we were not there to watch telly this didn't make too much of a difference to us. It probably would have worked if we had persisted and read the manual! Mobile interent coverage is also not great in this area.

Kitchen area again was large and spacious with a table big enough for everyone to sit around, partically good for a late breakfast before setting off home. The kitchen was well stocked with plates, glasses and cutlery as well as a cooker and hob, dishwasher and plenty of cupboard space, particuarly useful if you fancy a shop at the beginning of the week to see you through your stay.

They do provide an information book in the cottage with useful numbers for restaurants/takeaways and taxi numbers although a few numbers that we tried from the book were incorrect and we ended up 'googling' taxi numbers.

There is a Londis store in town which is easy to get to and stocks the basics incase you need extra eggs and bacon for breakfast! There area a few restaurants in town too, we ate at an Italian called Angelinas which was very good and reasonably priced. It was quite busy here on a Saturday night in April so I can imagine you may have to book in advance for the peak season. There are also lots of pubs, little bars and cafes to enjoy in town and around the harbour too as well as little shops for a stick of Welsh Rock!

The cottage served its use and we enjoyed our weekend there. Would come back to this area again and would recommend this cottage to a larger family/couple of families travelling together or a group of friends.
