“Love this place so so much!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2007

I stayed here before the place was re-vamped and loved it. Now it has been re-vamped I love it even more. All the staff are extremely polite, and customer focused, the location is wonderful and I can not fault it as a whole at all. You are welcome from arriving through the doors and even the after care they provide is great too. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great service, were a late Friday evening arrival, they kept Sausage Mash & Gravy for us despite chef having finished some hours previous.
Nice clean rooms & good breakfast
Bar busy with mix of residents and locals, large screen TV for the Sport but not too prominent.
Only criticism of room was lack of bath (tired golfing legs) but v good shower pressure.
Would recommend as great base to explore North Wales for Golfing

Our family stayed at Y Branwen during week two of our six week "grand tour". It was a high point in our trip. The proprietress (Ms. Wood) and her staff were the most accomodating of any of our hosts during 42 days of travel (including some 5 star accomodations in London).

the dining at her restaurant will help to redefine traveller's perception of Cymru/English cuisine and the pub was a welcome respite from the more touristy offerings throughout the UK.

When my son misplaced his sunglasses during a field trip to Llanbedr (hello Bedewr), Ms. Wood went above and beyond the call of duty to arrange their pickup and return.

Sitting at home here in Oregon, I miss the ambience and conversation already.

Others have written regarding the rooms, but suffice it to say the fixtures and accoutrements were top-notch.

We would (and will) return as soon as possible.

  • Liked — Meals and fixtures in well laid out room
  • Disliked — Pub closed too early
  • Tips/Secrets — make sure your rental is smallish; take the detour around porthmadog

We stayed for one night in Y Branwen. Recently refurbished it had a very fresh feel about it. The room was quite small and very warm but that can't be helped due to the extreme outside temperature. Also no view as there was a dry stone wall directly outside the window but as we were there for only one night we spent very little time in the room. The room itself was very clean with nice linen and towels and the bed very comfortable. Shower very powerful. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant served good food. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to stay in the area.

I stayed at Y Branwen for a weekend with my school friends. I was very impressed with the standard of furnishings in the bedrooms and both the hotel and bar / restaurant areas were decorated in a modern way and were spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and accomodated our group perfectly. Excellent wine list and some good food on the menu.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Y Branwen hotel. They had only been open for 10 days after an extensive refurbishment. The place reeks of good taste and style and obviously a lot of thought has gone in to making this small hotel stand out with lots of nice touches . The welcome was very friendly and the service throughout our stay was attentive but relaxed. Room number 1was lovely- big comfortable bed with good linen and a trendy en-suite with huge fluffy white towels- above average for the very reasonable nightly rate which includes both a continental and cooked breakfast, also provided to a high standard. Only criticism would be that the restaurant menu is rather limited at present- not a problem for a short stay but if eating there every night for a week or so, you might struggle to chose a different dish for each night. What is on offer though is good value, good quality and stylishly presented. Overall however, I would highly recommend Y Branwen and would definitely stay there again if in that beautiful part of the world again.
