We returned for our fourth visit-sadly just as dinner guests but delighted to be back nonetheless. We arrived early for drinks in the bar and to savor delicious canapes, followed by an appetiser of a tiny cup of mushroom soup with a parmesan crouton. I wrestled with starters-Grilled fig or quail?! Plumped for the fig and wasn't disappointed-it came with melted blue cheese and some seriously powerful bacon lardons. There was no struggle with the main course-my husband had the steak-the best he's ever tasted has come from Castle cottage, he pretends to look at the menu but had decided before we walked in! I had the duck-a confit leg and a beautifully pink breast. Pudding was, as usual for me, the sorbets, including apple and calvados...perfect. We waddled out into the night at a disappointingly early 9.45 due to having to get a taxi home-but always best to leave wanting more. Thanks for another great night.
