After long walk along the front at Rhos-on-Sea this restaurant was warm and welcoming with lovely log fire, good and service.

“Awful”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

We have just come back from an evening meal at the Pen-y-Bryn. Normally we have a lovely meal here but the chef has left and gone to the Imperial in Llandudno. I had pate and haddock and chips. The pate was ok but that was all. The fish inside the batter was nice but the batter was brown and overcooked. The whole meal was greasy. My husband had the leek pie and found a hair baked inside it. They did apologise and gave us some tokens but we won't be going back.

“Hidden gem”

Great choice on the menu, and food was absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was homely but lively, and service was very attentive.

“Over priced and poor kitchen service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

Having been here numerously over the past years (but not in the last 6 months) I was still holding our high hopes after previous visit. We had reserved a table for 10 of us on a Saturday night. The menu prices seemed to have increased whilst the portion sizes have decreased, however the food was tasty when it arrived. Our main problem was the fact that we had to wait for an hour for our mains to arrive after our starters had been cleared. This clearly isn't good enough so when we ask the waitress where our food was, she said it was delayed due to a party of 40 or so people being in and the kitchen couldn't cope!!!! However, they already knew that a party of 40 was already booked in as we had tried to book the same room where the party was. If they can't plan and cook accordingly then they shouldn't be in business. I wasn't impressed and won't be recommeding the Pen Y Bryn for a good while.

“Little disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

I have visited the Pen y Bryn on various occasions with friends, family etc and have always found the food and service to be of very good quality. The menu is varied but feel it is a little over-priced, as is the side order of vegetables. £3.50 is a little extortionate for the amount provided and I can never figure out why vegetables cannot be included with the price of the meal. (I do realise that this is the case in many restaurants).
Desserts are also a little over-priced and I feel that ice cream should at least be £1 cheaper than all other desserts.
Staff were efficient and friendly and the atmosphere good.
I will return at some point in the future, but not sure when!
