“Great day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

A fantastic day out - lots to see & do for all the family.
The zoo is beautifully kept & there's such a range of animals to see! The lemurs, bears, chimps & penguins were a highlight for us. Special mention to the gentlemen at the lemur enclosure as he was really engaging & friendly. Excellent play parks for the kids & beautiful views over the area. All in all one if the best zoos we have been to. Thank you for a memorable day out!

“Good day except the for the boy who closed the shop!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

We visited the mountain zoo in the second week of the Easter holidays. The weather was showery so it wasn't to busy, just nice i would say. We were with friends and between us had four kids under 6. The Zoo is ideal for the younger kids. Not too much walking, good selection of animals with a couple of nice shows. The cafe is ok and play areas are very good.

The one thing that slightly spoilt the day was the shop. Not the gift shop but the ice cream, drinks, and snack shop which was managed by a young boy who took it upon himself to close at 2.20 PM. His reasoning was that it was too quiet to stay open! I saw at least 6-10 people, most with families who were turned away! He said that you could get everything from the cafe!

His attitude quite frankly was very poor, and its a shame because it is a good place to take young kids. It would be interesting to now if the management are aware of shop closing times!

“Good day out but looking tired”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2014

We visited the Welsh Mountain Zoo with a very mixed aged family group (eldest 95, youngest 17 months).
Was generally very impressed with the zoo. It was a very reasonable entry price, but worth mentioning that parking isn't great. We were first pointed to an overflow carpark which is quite a walk from the entrance however once pointed out we had disabled discs, managed to park in the main zoo.
The zoo is as described, it's on a mountain. The views out over Colwyn Bay are stunning however there are some areas that are not accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs & some quite steep hills to push up!!
Our little girl loved looking at the animals, especially enjoined the penguin parade and falconry show and the chimp experience.
I was concerned that some of the animals looked very bored & showed some very bizarre behaviour at times. The enclosures looked very small in some instances however there was work being done on them when we visited.
Cafe was good and the portions were huge!! All in all, a really good day out and good value for money!

“Perfect day out.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

We went to Welsh mountain zoo with all family. Children especially enjoyed seeing penguins and sea lions. Nice views around all zoo, lots of blossoming trees, mountains and sea. There is also a huge play area for kids. We took our food, bought only ice-cream, so it wasn't expensive at all. It is worth to go.

“Super mountain zoo with a difference.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

I would definitely recommend a trip to the Welsh Mountain Zoo. The zoo is in lovely mountainous surrounds (as you might expect) and walking around the zoo site itself you may feel as though you are taking a woodland walk at times. The entrance prince (approx £10) is very reasonable. We spent several hours at the zoo and were very pleased with the range of different animals that are looked after, particularly some of the more uncommon species including Brown Bears. The Red Pandas were beautiful although their behaviour had me a little worried (this is just a concern from somebody who doesn't know a lot about these animals for the zoo). That aside, there is lots to see and quite a few animal talks to attend also. I have to thank a brilliant Chimp keeper who answered my nearly endless questions about how they look after the Chimps (they watch television sometimes but football makes them aggressive!). I was also pleased at how natural the animals', and in particular the birds', habitats were. There is a lot of parking, the trails are easy to move around and toilets are easily found also. This is a great day out if in the area!
