“Average at Best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Visited last Sunday with the family. Read a few reviews before going which were mainly positive and generally giving a good overall impression of the Zoo. To be honest, I wasn't overly impressed, one review said it was the best Zoo they had ever been too !!!!!! Really ? The Zoo is in major need of a serious overhaul, the enclosures were unkempt, they looked aged and worn and there really is not a lot to see here. The Snow Leopard was curled up on a concrete pillar in the corner, it looked depressed , the Monkey house was dirty, cracked glass, yes, cracked glass where the monkeys have been repeatedly striking the glass as part of the food teasing exhibition, the glass in the middle section is dirty and the glazing has cobwebs between them that on closer inspection looked as if they have been there since the time of construction . There really is not a lot to see here , Chester Zoo is only half an hour from here and for a family day out is in a different league all together. One aspect of this Zoo though that was really good was the children's play area, a lot of thought has gone into this and the kids had a great time in it . The cafe was ok, food was fine but it does get busy at meal times. Overall, if you want to go to the best Zoo in the North West , go to Chester .

“Fantastic day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We have been to so many zoos and animal sanctuarys and this was great.
It was nice to walk around the animals in the mountain settings. Although quite steep at times was so enjoyable. If your children love animals as much as mine do you have to visit.

“Welsh Mountain Zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

Had a great day out at zoo. Lots of different animals, particularly loved the bear, snow leopards and alligators! I really enjoyed the bird display and penguin walk. Theres also some great views of colwyn bay, llandudno etc
The zoo does need updating but for the price you pay i dont think its a major issue.

“Absolutely Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

what a brilliant 4 hours, we were lucky with the weather and the animals are superbly looked after. We absolutely recommend a visit. Only negative is that its not very well signposted & we had trouble finding it, even our sat nav said we had reached our destination even though it was another half mile up the hill.
