I've been meaning to stay in Aberaeron for ages and knowing the area a little, when an opportunity came up to visit, I couldn't wait to book into one of the many well-known hotels and B&B's in this gorgeous Georgian town. However, despite my wanting to book 3 rooms for the night, in every single case my booking was refused subject to a two-night minimum stay over weekends. (I can understand this during school holidays or bank holiday weekends, but this was neither).
Has the world gone bonkers or are the good hoteliers and proprietors of Aberaeron just greedy or lazy?
Step forward Stan and Eleri at Hazeldene, the proprietors of a welcoming B&B in a former sea captain's grand house. Nothing was too much trouble. All the rooms are extremely clean, well thought out and not too small. The location is quiet and there's no traffic noise. We were treated to a great breakfast and witnessed them going to great lengths to help visitors new to the area. (One slight negative in that the soundproofing is not foolproof between the floors)
Hazeldene may not be as swanky or cool or hip as some of its better-known competitors, but I'm sure it offers better value - and I'm VERY fussy !
