“Great weekend stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on a weekend trip to Memphis. Valet parked the car and were able to get everywhere else we wanted to go on foot, by cab, or by the trolley. The hotel itself is beautifully done and our room was small, but nicely decorated and fit our needs for a couples weekend away.

The TGIF in the lobby had good food (breakfast, even - for a price), and great staff. We'd have a drink or two in the evening at the bar before heading to Beale Street. And we'd check in for a nightcap when we got back, before heading to our room.

The staff was great - very helpful. There was quite a line when we pulled in after our four hour drive from Nashville, and they did their best to get everyone settled in quickly and with a smile.

I can see why it's a necessity, but it was a little disconcerting to have a guard in the lobby at all times - it's sad that with all the history in Memphis, the city seems to be fighting a constant battle against crime. I really sincerely hope that the downtown core can gain the upper hand so that the tourists and the blues die-hards (and their $$$) will start flowing in! This area has so much to offer!

Have just come back from a 5 day stay at this hotel. Speedy check in. Room on 7th floor OK - although quite dark in decor, although there were four lamps in the room. We were on a corner and on one side we looked out onto another building's roof with subsequent noise from their air conditioning units. The air con / extractor fan in the toilet was quite noisy too.

The room didn't have bedside cabinets as such, but on one side it had a desk for working on laptops etc., and on the other, quite a large round table. For charging my phone I used one of the sockets in the bathroom because the other sockets in the bedroom kept pushing the plug back out.

The shower was really good and the bed was really comfortable & clean. All the staff were very pleasant. There is also an ice dispensing machine on each floor which was great for keeping our drinks and bottled water cool. Disappointingly their swimming pool was closed for the season.

We didn't eat in TGI Fridays, but had drinks a couple of times. We went every morning and on our last night, to Denny's across the road, where they do fantastic breakfasts & steaks at very reasonable prices.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip because I couldn't get in at The Peabody Hotel (MUCH nicer!) across the street where the conference was being held. Paint peeling off the walls and doors, worn furniture and not enough plugs (had to unplug a lamp to charge my phone). There was a wet spot near the corner outside the bathroom that stayed wet for two days (leak next door) - I make it a habit to stay away from unknown liquids so I didn't investigate anymore than that. Also, there is a constant high pitched ringing sound coming from somewhere that never stopped. I know it wasn't my ears because I stuck my fingers in them and the sound went away. Not sure if it is just downtown Memphis or some equipment in the hotel but it was annoying when it's the only sound you hear in an otherwise quiet room. On the plus side, the bed was comfy and the TV was nice -- only because of the location does this place rate 3 stars instead of 2. They can do better, they NEED to do better - those little things add up to a lot.

Everthis was good about the hotel, price accomedations except there were no power outlets to charge cell phone and laptops unless you unplug the lights at the work table very wrong. There were no power outlets at the bed to charge cell phone that you could get too, so I had to leave the phone on the work table across the room which is annoying to answer when lying on the bed watching TV. It is very close to several really good places to eat and shop. Only 4 short blocks off of Beal street where you can shop and eat also. Have fun I did.

I really enjoyed this hotel. It has a great Resturant. It served a wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff was very nice! I really liked the valet parking. It is in a great location. Close to Peabody, Beale street, Main Street trolley, the Orpheum theater, and many great places to eat. Right down the road from the Mississippi River and Sun Studios. Rooms were clean and we felt very safe there.

If you are in Memphis and want a hotel near Beale Street this hotel fits the bill. There are several restaurants very close to the hotel some that are very pricey and many that are resonably priced. I was staying at this hotel for a week on business but was able to explore the Beale street area. This hotel is right next door to the famous Peabody hotel so I was able to see the duck walk. It is only about a block from Beale and the Fed Ex fourm. The only con's were the $25 parking fee and the TGIFridays in hotel. I thought that $14 was way to much to have to pay for a breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: If you can get a room in the older side of the hotel they have a little more charactor.
