“Best Mexican in Memphis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2012

If you don't mind spending a little more than you usually do for Mexican food, stop in at Abuelos.

Their chips & salsa are, by far, the best around... I don't guess I've ever found a better chip... sounds silly, I guess, but they are just about perfect... never greasy, never stale, always crispy and light... and just plain yummy...

I've never heard anyone complain about an entree here... their version of mashed potatoes is very good... as are the refried beans... Take some of your entree home, though, because you cannot eat at Abuelos without having Tres Leche cake...

Oh my goodness... this cake should be illegal... Well worth the calories and an extra thirty minutes on the treadmill... Don't miss it!!!

LOVE Abuelos....

“Enoyable lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2011

We enjoyed the atmosphere and food here! This is more pricy than the average Mexican restaurant, but the enchiladas are so delicious. Service was on the slow side since we were there in between lunch and dinner, and there weren't too many other people there.

“This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2011 via mobile

We were on our way to On The Border when we saw this place and decided to give it a try. Everything was amazing from the moment we arrived. The building is very classy, bright, and well decorated. Our server, Carol, was amazing. Friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Additionally, the owner, John, came by to welcome us on our first visit and paid for the appetizer for us. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and it was outstanding. For the meal, we shared the Monterrey. It was so big, we could barely finish it between the two of us. Finally, my wife had a margarita and the total bill only came to $23!!! That is a great price for two adults to eat dinner with an appetizer and a margarita. I would recommend this place to anyone and my only regret is that we live 3 hours away.

“Prices have gone up, still great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

Ouch! Abuelos has taken about a $2 jump in meal prices, but the food is still good. Try the Quesada al Horno.
