“Needs to be removed.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Never have actually visited but pass by it often on the way to work downtown. This city is predominately black and it has no place here or anywhere else. The confederates lost the war thanks be to God and those with any sense and a beating heart. No need for this park to be named a "confederate park". I think mostly the homeless sleep there and hang around during the day. The only and one and only reason I'd say a person could get out of it is that it reminds you of slavery and to never forget and to prevent it from ever happening again. The educated people that care should be demanding this park be re-named.

“Civil War era cannons in Confederate Park, on the Mississippi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

For historical interest, Confederate Park is a great Civil War site. The original Confederate cannons were donated as scrap during the World Wars, but reproductions were recently placed due to the efforts of a multi-year funding campaign by the Sons of Confederate Veterans and other historical groups.

“Beautiful views of the river area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012 via mobile

This historic park is on a high cliff near the visitors centet. It affords great views of the river. There is a statute of Jefferson Davis in the center and a few historical markers describing the history of the area and the park. Good for a stop if in the area.

“best to avoid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2008

This park does have a nice view but it is overrun with homeless folks. There are many other places in Memphis to get a free beautiful view of the river. See Mud Island Park, or the greenway on Mud Island.

“Beautiful View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2006

This park has an excellent view of the river, and was the site of many historic happenings. You pass through it when you take a carriage ride. Nice lawns and sidewalks. I would recommend it.
