Went to a concert there once and things weren't too bad. We had met friends for dinner at a local place and just walked over to the Forum. Getting into the faciltiy required standing in line while people checked for weapons, alcohol, etc. I'm all about safety, but it was about 20 degrees with people standing in line for over half an hour. Once we got inside, the show wasn't bad, sound was acceptable, nothing to write home about, but I've certianly heard worse at other large venues.
Gave the Forum another go to see the Grizzlies play about a year later. Weather getting in was more favorable, but there was still a wait to get in. During the game, rain moved in and it was pouring down in buckets. Rather that have my 8 & 10 yo out in it, I decided I would go get the car and come pick up the wife and kids. BIG MISTAKE! The city of Memphis and the Forum decided in their infinite wisdom that preventing ANY traffic back with in like a two block radius of the Forum was a great idea. I might could see this on nights when the weather is clear but in a downpour with LOTS of lightening, it's not an acceptable method to get kids out of a packed arena. After driving around dodging the road blocks, I finally found a cop who understood the issue and was willing to help. He wrote down my tag number and let me through. He advised that I needed to come back through his check point on the way out as going through another check point would likely result in a ticket by the officers at the other check points. i did as he asked and was able to pick up my family. Decided at that point that we'd watch any other Grizz events on the tele.
