“Stay Away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2003

Do you like over priced drinks? Do you like the same show ight after night? If so Branson or Rum Boogie is the place for you. I sat through several nights of hearing the same songs in the same order without ever hearing a real blues song here onthe streey that is the "Home of the Blues." Bad drinks servered in plastic cups. Overpriced and watered down. The food shows a total lack of skill. The managers are rude and the staff uninterested in taking care of you. This is the typical Beale Street tourist trap. They will only see you once, so get as much out of you that night, and give you no reason to come back.

“Best for the Blues”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2003

The rum Boogie Cafe is the best music venue on Beale Street. First went there in 2001 and have been back twice since; definite future visit for 2004. All the gigs are great - catch Magic Slim or the Memphians if they're around, or any of the visiting talent, they all seem to be good. As for James Govan and the Rum Boogie Band, they are just fantastic. I have a couple of their CDs and have nearly worn them out.

I visit Memphis once a year at least, Rum Boogies is by far the best music on Beale St, if your lucky enought to catch the house band, James Govan and the Boogie Blues Band ,the atmosphere is wonderful, but the music is great,if your visiting Beale St. do not miss this place, and try to catch JAMES GOVAN AND THE BOOGIE BLUES BAND or you'll be sorry.
