“Great Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

OK so were standing in the middle of Beale St and a friend says have you ever been there, we say no and in we go. It turns out our friend and been and said it was a great place to hear some blues, they have a BB King look alike playing that night and the food was wonderful. It was a unexpected delight to find such good food in the middle of a tourist section and the staff is very friendly and helpful. So if you pass it by stop in have a cold beer and some great food!

“Great food and even better service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

My family and I were just walking down Beale street and this nice person outside asked if we would like to stop in and eat. We looked at the menu and decided to give it a shot.

First, the place is really cool. Sure it's not brand new and all shiny, but that’s cool. It didn’t need to be because it has style and character.

Second, the food was just awesome. I thought we might be in trouble because the prices weren’t that high but I was gladly proven wrong. The fact that the prices were so good just made the experience even better.

It was a slower night so the staff didn’t have too many customers to deal with. In fact, we were alone for the first 30-40 minutes. The bartender came from around the bar and over to our table to say hi to the kids and see that we were enjoying ourselves. The waitress was great. I spilled an entire glass of milk while trying to feed one of my kids and you would have thought we were at a high-end restaurant. They quickly came over to clean it. Lifted the plates and put down new paper on the table. It was so fast it was like it didn’t happen (although my wife made sure to remind me that it did happen).

Back to the restaurant. The bathrooms were dated but clean. They had a great outdoor area were you could listen to live music. We stayed inside because there was a light rain. Honestly, I have eaten at many different restaurants in Memphis and this random stop turned out to be one of the best.

“Excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

I wasn't a blues fan but I am now a convent having spend the evening have a meal and listening to blues in the café. We had a lovely meal which included Memphis ribs which were divine. I believe they are famous for there gumbo but we had went as a tour group and so have a set menu but the food was excellent. The jazz player was excellent and with the club being on Beale Street you can soak up all the atmosphere.

“Best food here is live music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

First of all, we do not go to Beale Street to get best food available in Memphis. I think a majority of people go to Beale Street for fun including listening to the music, street show and may be duck parade at nearby Peabody hotel. Still Beale street club/live music restaurants offer decent food on places I've tasted. Yes, food is a bit more expensive and quality is one notch below when compared to other famous bbq places like Corky, Central, or nearby Charles Vergos' Rendezvous.

There are five reasons you should check this place:
1) David Bowen is a very creative musician who can sing all famous songs of Elvis, Eric Clapton or anybody you name it. He also accompanies his great voice with a beautiful 8 strings guitar and after playing a few bars of looping bass line and rhythm, it feels like a whole band is playing. Could be the most romantic place in Beale St.
2) Food is more seafood heavy/louisiana style and so it is a kind of alternative after having too much bbq and pork in Memphis. Gumbo could be as good as you can get outside louisiana. Even sides such as steamed vegetables are quite good.
3) Warning: desert, especially their famous bread budding is really huge and rich.
4) Service is also quite efficient and food came out quick. It is more intimate and lesser tables placed compared to B.B. King. So I think waiters/waitresses can bring food more easily.
5) If you are not into a full meal, just get a few drinks at bar and you can still enjoy good music.
