“Best dry rubbed ribs we have had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

There are 2 kinds of BBQ ribs in Memohis-dry rub and wet. They serve dry rub here. The kind you eat with your fingers and add the sauce if you feel the need (which is more vinegar based opposed to tomato/brown sugar based. Nothing fancy-just great ribs.

“Good food good beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

We just stumbled into the Blues City Cafe because it was right on the corner. The food was pretty good though I would not call it excellent with one exception. The catfish was to die for!!! The ribs were tender but very fatty, the tamales were OK and all of the sides were pretty cold but tasted just fine. But a nice big (although plastic) glass of cold beer makes everything better! The staff was very friendly and the service was fast. Would definitely come again for the catfish!

“Great ribs and gumbo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

After having to return ribs to the kitchen in another Beale st. Local dive, I was a little nervous to try again but I was on a quest! These dud not disappoint and my husband loved his gumbo (really spicy). They are also known for their fried catfish.

“Recommended by a local woman, WOW was she right!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

Spent an afternoon sightseeing in Memphis after getting off the American Queen. After walking for several hours working up an appetite we asked a local young lady where to get the best ribs and she said this is the only place she goes. Fabulous fall off the bone ribs, not too salty, not to much sauce, simply delicious! The atmosphere is great, what you would expect a southern rib "joint" to be and the service was 5 star. We each had a glass of wine served in a plastic cup, but that too was a good fit and not over priced.

“Excellent barbeque at a reasonable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

This place was wonderful! We stayed in Memphis for five days and ate here three times. The barbeque is wonderful and portions are large and the prices are just right.
