“Interesting history...and get a soul burger!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Good and flavorful burger with chips. Its what they serve, so you must try it! Definitely a dive, but that is what makes it interesting. Barstools over 100 years old and walls have storage bins from when it was a drugstore in the early 1900's. Upstairs is the old brothel, where its said the "ghosts" occasionally play the piano. Visit the Lorraine Motel/National Civil Rights Museum a few blocks up and over, and then stop by for a soul burger before you trolley back to your hotel!

“super cool bar - get a soulburger!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

This is one of my favorite places in Memphis. Such a cool bar, such great atmosphere. I really love the jukebox and the pool tables. Sometimes there is live piano upstairs, which is a great place to hide when things downstairs get crazy. Order a soulburger to fend off a hangover, and dance all night!

“It's not about the burger”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

You can order a burger or a dog, take your pick. The "soul burger" is the specialty and it's not the best burger I've ever had but still good. A nice cheap meal in a haunted Memphis institution. We were treated to a tour of the upstairs by the owner Russ (who you can see in the movie Elizabethtown) and an additional surprise song by the haunted jukebox. Go during the day and they'll likely give you a tour, just ask about the upstairs which used to be a brothel and if Russ is there he'll be more than happy to tell you a story or two.
