“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Suite hotels are usually choices of convenience for me. I don't expect much from them and the basics are important. However, I think Residence Inn Downtown Memphis is pretty exceptional. The building is a beautiful restored Art Deco building, the interior is lovely, and the accommodations are superb. The two bedroom suite we have is spacious, beautifully appointed and comfortable. Most of all the price was ridiculously reasonable. The location is perfect, just next to the trolleys. I cannot say enough of Jessie, who IS the Front Desk, and he is the loveliest man ever. The staff is attentive and so so friendly. Hotels nowadays offer complimentary manager evening snacks but at this property, we had BBQ, beans and wine, etc. It was amazing. We used to stay at The Peabody but now it's going to be Residence Inn all the way.

Stayed here May 22-26 and really liked this hotel. Walking distance to the downtown area. Always felt safe walking back to our hotel. Rooms were nice and it was great having the small kitchen and living area to relax in and to make one of Elvis' banana peanut butter sandwiches. The reason it is not getting a 5 was because throughout our stay, one of the elevators was usually down and a couple of times required walking up or down to our room via the stairs. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was good. Bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I along with 6 other guests stay at the Residence Inn during Memphis in May BBQ Fest a few weeks ago. I can't fully speak for the other 6 guests but I loved this hotel.

The location was abosolutley perfect for Memphis in May BBQ fest. We were a 3 minute drive to the entrance of the park which was a bonus for anyone going to Memphis in May. On the note of driving, we valet parked our car every day and it was worth every penny. The hotel mentioned giving the valets 10 minutes to get your car, I don't think we ever waited the full 10 minutes. Even when they were busy.

The rooms were always keep extremly clean and the dishes were always cleaned and put away when ever we returned back to our rooms. We stayed in standard suite. The only minor complaint about the room my wife and I had was there wasn't a full stove or oven in the room. I had understood that there was a full stove and oven in each room, But please, please don't let that stop you from staying at this hotel. We only had to cook a few things and we did so in our friends room.

The front of house staff was always extremly frinedly and more than happy to accomidate each guest in any way possible. I needed a specialty ingredient for the BBQ contest that I left in Toronto and I asked the front desk if they knew of any where that might have the product. Not only did the point me in the right direction to start my search, they phoned different restaurant and suppliers trying to get a hold of the product. Lucky I was able to track some down quickly.

The breakfast each day was a welcome sight. The food was always kept fresh and the staff greeted each guest with a pleasant good morning. On the colder days the staff put out oatmeal for breakfast, which helped to keep us going in the cold and rain. The only "dinner" that we were at the hotel was for chilli dogs and salad, Along with cold beer and wine. We heard that the following nights were going to be Italian and BBQ for there evening social "dinners" we didn't make it back for those meals, but I'm sure they were great none the less.

If you have the chance, a stay the Residence Inn Memphis is worth every penny

Room Tip: The valet parking is worth the money

On approximately April 20th, my sisters and decided to take my mother to Memphis for Mother's Day. When we called the hotel were booked. My mothers sisters had gotten their rooms well in advance. I started to panic, but thanks be to god and Mr. Washington, the manager at the downtown Monroe Residence Inn.
Mr Washington was able to find a 2 bedroom suite which was perfect for my family.
Thanks Mr Washington for saving my mother her great Mother's Day celebration.

Our party of 4 adults stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite. The suite was spacious with a living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom with en-suite and another bedroom with a separate bathroom next to it off the central hallway. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable. One downside was that the suite didn't have a safe, or not that we found anyway! WiFi was available in the room but was a little slow, cable TV was available on all 3 TV's in the suite. Breakfast was complimentary and better than expected with fresh fruit and waffles you could make yourself. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was a short walk from Beale Street and local transport was just around the corner. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The concierge/valet made an excellent recommendation for dinner (Hueys) on our first night after we arrived at the hotel very late.

This hotel has the best location. One half block to the trolley, 2 blocks from the river, walking distance to Beale street, Sun records and many other great restaurants and attractions. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The house keeping was outstanding. Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. The hotel had easy access and parking was reasonably priced. Our family stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite. There was a full kitchen and large sitting room. The price, including tax was $300.00 but well worth it. There was breakfast included each morning and beverages and a lite meal on three weekdays at 6 pm. Several restaurants deliver to the hotel, which is great since there is no full time restaurant or bar in the building. The only downside was that the food and beverage room was not handicapped accessible. I was told they are working on getting a lift. The dishwasher in our unit was broken and a replacement was on order. This was somewhat inconvenient, however, the housekeeping staff was good about doing any dirty dishes in the morning. No reduction in price was offered for this but efforts were made for all of us to be in one unit during a heavily booked time. Late checkout for elite members was one hour later not 2 pm like some hotels. Over all this hotel was wonderful. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: The two bedroom two bath suite is great for families or two couples.

Very well run hotel. Welcoming and helpful staff. Large, clean, recently decorated room with kitchen area. Good, complimentary breakfast. Excellent location as we were able to get to everywhere we wanted either by walking, getting the tram/streetcar or free bus to Graceland. Plenty of places to eat near by, including a very pleasant creole eatery De Ja Vu. Handy having a guest laundry. Pleasant sitting up on the roof terrace too.
