People here are so nice! Hubby wanted to go to Memphis, and the trip planning process was rocky. We needed two rooms, one for us, one for two other family members. We ended up booking first night both rooms here, but remainder at another hotel for cost reasons and available rates. Once we checked in, they questioned that one room was only one night. Once I explained, they got us the same rate for both rooms, which was a great bargain! We had breakfast, we had dinner (Mon - Tues), they gave us lots of good advice, housekeeping was wonderful, room was clean and spacious, and we would come back in a heartbeat. Mild negatives: Pillows are too soft. Monday night dinner they kept running out of main course, remote didn't work well all of the time. They have a rooftop whirlpool, gym, and computer. Old historic hotel bought by Residence Inn. It is beautiful!

“Best hotel in Memphis!”

Our daughter lives in Memphis and we have had the occasion to visit frequently enough.
This is the best hotel in Memphis. We have stayed in all of the top rated ones downtown and in the suburbs. Nothing compares to this place. It's so close to Beale but far enough from the noise and the hassle. You could walk to the River (2 blocks) and of course Beale Street.
I requested a room on an upper floor and I did receive that. The room was very clean, quiet and well equipped with everything that you could possibly need.
Every staff member was friendly and professional. We were greeted by Hugh when we first arrived and he set the tone. I don't know who is responsible for hiring staff at this hotel but they should be promoted.
The Breakfast staff deserves a special mention. The selection was great, they were so attentive and friendly. I was actually thanked for having breakfast with them.
Valet parking is the only thing that is a hassle but it was better than self park in the garages.
Don't hesitate, this place is a gem!

Location: Not far from the Amtrak station which is how we travelled to Memphis, literally 1 block away from the trolley system, access to a few food shops and supermarkets. There is a bank located opposite the hotel itself which was handy for cashing travellers cheques. It is a pleasant 5-10 min walk from Beale Street which has to be seen! Also only a few blocks away from the Mississippi River and Mud Island. We were given a number of a luxury transport service, which offered us transportation to and from Graceland which is a 15 min drive and cost 25 dollars each way. I thought this was reasonable and the car was great.

Hotel: The general appearance of the hotel is good, the lobby area is very nice looking. We were checked into a suite on the 8th floor, the room was great. We had a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge freezer and a hob. Everything was clean and tidy. The bathroom was also great. I have to mention the free breakfast which was of top quality, best free hotel breakfast ever!

Overall: For easy access to the main attractions of Memphis and a pleasant and affordable hotel this is a great option. My only criticism is that if you are on the rear side of the hotel, there are fans/generators outside which make a fair amount of steady noise. I am a light sleeper and luckily had my earplugs. If I didn't however I would have raised a complaint and requested to be moved to the front of the hotel which I am sure they could have dealt with.

“Newly remodeled, very nice, inexpensive”

This is a very nice Residence Inn for Residence Inns. It appears to have been completely remodeled recently. We had a huge room with upgraded appliances in our kitchen, two televisions, a separate bedroom area, large bath...with all new linens and draperies. It's about three blocks from Beale street and very conveniently located. Highly recommend this place.

Stayed here for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend. We had originally booked the Peabody, but changed to this--a block further from the action and cheaper. I'm so glad we did!! I don't know how full the hotel was, but we felt like the only guests in a place where people wanted us to be there! All the staff (front desk, valets...even the staff at breakfast) seemed genuinely pleased we were there and wanted to help make our stay better.

Only downside is that the breakfast was disappointing, but that's fine for a "freebie" breakfast--when we really wanted to pig out, we walked a few blocks for a big breakfast. Short walk to Autozone park, Beale St., etc, and easy to get to Graceland and highways by car--valet is pricey, but so quick and great with directions, that it was worth it. Would stay here again if we go to Memphis.

And the bed: incredibly comfortable!!
