“Surprising in Every Way!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

This hotel was chosen for me by a group. The rate was extremely reasonable, so I feared the hotel may be more budget oriented. It was absolutely the opposite. I can't believe how much of a value this place is. First, they let me check in WAY earlier than usual (like 9am,) the rooms are enormous, well appointed, super clean, very comfortable. My first day I spent 8 hours working from the Residence Inn. They were having technical difficulties with the wifi, but instantly left a note on all the doors and supplied an lan cable. Also the TV in the bedroom was a bit kooky, but since there were two TVs it mattered none. Nice happy hour, and nice breakfast were complimentary. I took advantage of having a full sized coffee pot during the day, and the full sized oven for a late night snack. Honestly, I could live in this hotel if need be.

I borderline giving this hotel an excellent rating, but hesitate because of the tiny technical difficulties.

We stayed in the Residence Inn Memphis Downtown at the beginning of April and had a really great time. The hotel, with its Art Deco lobby, is in a fantastic position for exploring the vibrant downtown area, being within easy walking distance of Beale Street, the Lorraine Motel (where Dr Martin Luther King was assassinated) and the Mississippi river boats.
The suite-style rooms were spacious and, although a little dated, had the most amazingly comfortable beds, with feather mattress toppers. The internet was free but was not wireless. The complimentary breakfast was great, with lots of choice and of good quality. The roof-top terrace provided some great views over the city and Mississippi River and featured a small hot tub.
To further enhance what was a lovely stay, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, greeting us like long-lost friends each time we returned to the hotel after trips out. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel and would be more than happy to stay there again. Thank you for making our stay a very pleasant one indeed!

My family stayed at the Residence Inn for Easter weekend. The staff at the Residence Inn Where just perfect. The staff was not only accommodating they also helped us with some recommendations on places to eat and attractions. The breakfast buffet was very satisfying as well. We arrived a little early and thought that we would have to wait around, but we were able to check in early and relax after a long drive from Chicago

We loved our time at the Residence Inn as well as Memphis itself. Being downtown, it was within a few blocks of Beale St (which we visited 3 nights in a row) as well as the river and the Civil Rights Museum. We were also able to walk to Sun Studios in around 20 minutes. Our room was large, modern and comfortable. There was a full kitchen and the partitioned bed area offered privacy from the large living area. Breakfast was included and we enjoyed the variety on offer. The manager's evening reception on Monday was so plentiful that we didn't need dinner that night. The crowning glory of the hotel was the wonderful staff. They were friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile. From front desk to valet staff to housekeeping, they were execellent. We loved Memphis and the Residence Inn helped create the good impression.

I would highly recommend this hotel because it was within walking distance of Beale Street, The Peabody Hotel, the Convention Center, the Civil Rights Museum and other sites of interest. It is less than half a block from a Trolley stop.

The building was entirely renovated five years ago. Our room was large and tasteful with free wifi. It included a good size kitchen with a full fridge, microwave, dishwasher, two burner stovetop,.. everything you would need for an extended stay. The bed had some kind of plush mattress pad on it that made it pretty cozy.

Breakfast included oatmeal, cold cereals, waffles, fruit, different style of eggs each day on real china with stainless cutlery...no paper plates and plastic. The dining area was very attractive and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

It was cool and a bit rainy while we were there so we didn't make it to the roof top.

I wish we'd had more time to spend in Memphis because there was a lot to do but this hotel was right in the thick of things and a pleasure to stay at. Front desk and valet experience was outstanding and we loved our loft bedroom and enjoyed the rooftop hot tub and view.

Front desk called a carriage to pick us up right outside the hotel, and explained the trolley system and other area attractions.

We walked to Beale Street and Peabody Hotel and ate at a wonderful restaurant right next door (McEwan's). Breakfast at the hotel was top rate and I enjoyed being on the mezzanine for enjoying a more spread out atmosphere than normal.

I would love to go back to Memphis and spend more time and this is the place I will stay. I loved the charm, service and location of this hotel.
