“Marvellous exhibits”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

This is a great museum with loads to see. A good 2 or 3 hours worth of exhibits including Isaac Hayes' car - amaaazing. We only had an hour or so to look round as it was part of an organised tour but well worth a visit.

“Stax Of History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Situated at East McLemore Avenue this impressive modern museum for Soul music is the only one of its kind in the world. Stax music artistes include many household names as Otis Redding, Issac Hayes, Booker T and The MG’s, The Staple Singers, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Ike & Tina Turner, and Albert King. As a tribute to these great Stax artistes and many others, the exhibition includes more than 3000 videos, films, photographs, records, interactive exhibits, musical instruments and even a ‘live’ music and lights dance floor plus a gift shop and large free car park. Well worth a visit.

“An event with real soul! A must see!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

A wonderful gem of music and cultural history. Orientation film is very good and displays are brimming with interesting info. Videos throughout add authenticity and deeper understanding of the rich impact of soul. We were incredibly lucky to meet David Porter on one of his rare visits to the museum!! I am still grooving on the whole experience. Don't miss this place!
