“Worth a stop or a side trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2011

I stopped at the Stax Museum on my way to the King Biscuit Blues Fest and it was so cool! Awesome opening film, then self guided walk around in the museum, very groovy memorabilia, good gift shop. The museum was heavy with Stax history, but covered the other labels too. The discount for AAA members was a nice surprise, as was the fenced, secure parking lot. The highlight of the permanent collection for me was Isaac Hayes' custom gold Cadillac, and the private collection from Otis Reddings' family will be there for a while longer, very touching to see those personal items.

“Ok Tour; Sun Records WAAAY Better!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2011

Stax Records was one of our stops this past weekend. We did learn a few things, but there was too much going on. The music in one area blended into another and it was too much. The message was also too confusing. They tried to mesh blues, soul, Detroit soul, and everything else together. It became a mish-mesh of information.
