The Homewood Suites Memphis-Hacks Cross became our "home away from home" when we had to move out of our Memphis house for four days due to construction. The hotel is located directly behind a Hampton Inn & Suites, and both properties are directly across the street from the world headquarters of FedEx Express. While technically in Memphis, it is on the fringe of the city, adjoining the suburb Germantown, and is in an area that has seen several retail and restaurant chains move into recently. Nearby restaurants include Outback Steakhouse, On The Border, Olive Garden, TGI Fridays, Logan's Roadhouse, McAlister's Deli, Buffalo Wild Wings and Dixie Cafe.
We reserved one of the larger suites, with two king beds, along with the usual Homewood amenities: two TV's, sofa-bed, small dining table, kitchenette (stovetop, microwave, refrigerator but no oven). Breakfast each morning was very good, offering a rotating selection of hot entrees (pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy) as well as standard cold fare (cereal, bagels, fruit). Rooms were well-maintained and service was excellent. During our stay, we did have a problem with some ants coming in our room (to get out of the cold), but maintenance quickly responded and they made it right during check-out. While you shouldn't expect luxury (it is a 3-star hotel) it is an excellent choice, particularly if you need a suite with kitchenette facilities. Highly recommended.
