“very pleased with homewood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We usually stay at nearby Hilton or Doubletree, but spent Christmas in Homewood because pricing was considerably better. We had a very comfortable fireplace suite, though were never in the room long enough to warrant getting Duralog from front desk. Everyone was very friendly, we had a squeaky bathroom door that we reported to front desk and maintenance fixed it promptly. The space is quite roomy with small kitchen and full supply of dishes and silverware, sitting room, and bedroom. We did not find access to be a problem, especially if you realize ahead of time that access is from the westbound lanes of Poplar. But if you are going eastbound off of I-240, there is an easy u-turn just past the hotel so that you do not need to go to an intersection to head back west. Also, though we did not eat full breakfast, it is available and quite varied; similarly a light dinner is provided each night along with cocktails. Once again, we did not avail ourselves, but menu is posted on the refrigerator. Bed was very comfortable and all amenities in place. We cannot imagine a better lodging experience if you are looking for a place in east Memphis.

This seems to be our family's go-to place in Memphis. We stayed here this time just before Christmas while visiting family in the area and even though the Memphis traffic was crazy, the grounds seemed like an oasis! The hotel has just completed a renovation of the lodge and it is quite nice. The consistency of the service here never fails to disappoint! See my other reviews for more details about the property.

Room Tip: ask for a room near the lodge

Thank you very much for sharing these kind words with our TripAdvisor community! It brings me joy to hear that our hotel staff and amenities have created a sense of loyalty for you and your family when traveling to Memphis. You are absolutely correct in saying the grounds provide an oasis-like atmosphere amongst the day to day hustle that Memphis entails. We strive to be the best in service and accommodations, so I am thrilled to hear that we are able to do just that. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and look forward to welcoming you home when back in the Memphis area.

Beds were comfortable, room was clean and breakfast was good 2 of 3 mornings. The overall location is good but access into the property is difficult. It has one entrance accessible only when traveling west. The hotel sits on an "island" between east and west bound lanes of congested Poplar Ave and near I-40, I-240 merge lanes. If you are not familiar with the area be prepared to circle a time or two.

Have bben staying here over the last few years on business and they are always super on the service side. Friendly faces and they are now doing a redo to the whole place. They even showed us around and explained the work and when it will be done. Rooms are clean, safe and over all worth the price.

Room Tip: Stay in the inner set of rooms to avoid the little traffic if possible

Stayed here for 10 days in September 2012 - the apartment was just what I wanted, clean, comfortable, secure, and with good facilities. Staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful and there is a grocery shopping service. Breakfast buffets were good, the Mon-Thurs evening buffet was also good if you're there for dinner. The self service laundry was useful. If you don't have a car, there is a shuttle service which will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius of the hotel, which includes the airport, some restaurants (including Corky's) and the Pink Palace Museum, but precious little else that would be of interest to a tourist. Be prepared to pay around $30 for a cab trip into the city, and the same to get you back again.

The location is layed out like an apartment complex. This is interesting and offers spacious rooms but presents some challenges, if you need to haul luggage up a flight or two of stairs. (We were on a two week road trip.)

The hotel has been located here for some time and has undergone several renovations. The room that we occupied was clean but musty smelling. It was supprisingly quiet despite being located next to the beltway around Memphis. It is located conveniently near east Memphis and Germantown.

Staff were friendly and the breakfast accomodation was pretty good. Bedding was comfortable and the linen's were adequate.

Next trip we'll probably try the new Marriott Hotel which is being constructed right next door.

We stay here while working in Memphis. The employees are very friendly. I like the layout and they take care of any issues. The area near the pool can be noisy during the day. The gym is small but usable. It is nice to have a small laundry. Everything in our room was fine. I noticed they upgrade over the years. Especially with the new plaza nearby it is nice if you are trapped in the area. I went for nice walks in a nearby cemetary. I also easily took the MATA bus to/from downtown Memphis. Whole Foods, Kroger, Malco, Post Office, small library are all nearby also. I had a car this time but in the past they had a shuttle so I'd ask. My only con would be that the offered food is unhealthy. Difficult if you are healthy, vegetarian, vegan, gluten...anything really. The coffee is good at the clubhouse. They currently have some construction.

Room Tip: Be aware of pool season. I've never heard noise from the road although it is right between two...
