Owner description: Renovation and renewal have come to this historic street known as the "Home of the Blues." Flashy music clubs and restaurants abound.

“A Lot Like Bourbon Street but much cleaner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Good "blues" music pours out into the street and you can feel the beat of good old rocknroll. Several great options for places to sit with a drink and listen to the bands, room to dance and people are friendly. I was suprised it was clean and we felt very safe. We did leave around 11 pm so it may become more rowdy.

“Just what we expected from Memphis!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

They street is cut off from traffic to allow people to walk freely from one place to another. Almost every bar/restaurant had a band playing. You could go in each place (for a cover charge) or stand outside (free). Between the bands there were street musicians/artists making Beale St constant entertainment!
We were disappointed we were only there for 6 hours. We did rent one of the carriages to get a quick look at the rest of downtown Memphis. I do not recall the name of our guide, who was an excellent guide with knowledge of history, architecture and little known facts of the area, but his horse was "Doc" a retired Amish plow horse.

“Don't go on Sun and Mon in Feb”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

It is dead and empty and still got approached by a panhandler. Liked Memphis CD but that was it. It is only a couple of pedestrianized blocks and might be wilder on a Friday or Saturday in season but I don't think we will be back

“Beale St 2 times!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

There were so many delicious restaurants, gift shops, and sights on the street! There was also live music. The atmosphere was just so lively. This was my 2nd time here and cannot wait to attend Memphis in May.

“Fun time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Beale street is a fun outing with friends, plenty of restaurant choices and gift shops. The area is small, only about two blocks. You can easily walk from place to place. It is worth a visit, but do not feel the need to return.
