“Don't miss it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Don't miss this little gem. Not easy to find Above a club on Beale Street. We were told about it by one of the staff in our hotel, and well worth a visit. Good food, reasonably priced and attentive welcoming staff. We both had pasta and both dishesere substantial and very tasty

“Romantic, jazzy and fantastic food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

We loved our experience at Itta Bena. The food was amazing, the piano player/jazz singer set the mood and our server was very on top of it. I had the crab soup and my husband the bbq shrimp and beer bread to start - both recommended by our server and they were fantastic. We had jambalaya and red snapper for entrees and it was hands down the best jambalaya we have both ever had.

Would definitely recommend going here!

One thing the restaurant could be better at is hosting - we were not greeted immediately and had to wait a bit to be seated and we had a reservation.

“Not worth the flight of stairs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Had reservations way in advance for a special occasion and requested a specific table. Was told not a problem. Confirmed day of reservations and when we arrived they had made the table a 6 top and given it to someone else. we were on time for our reservation. The manager informed us of this, said he was sorry but there were no other table available by a window except in the middle of restaurant. Our waitress was horrible. Barely saw her. When food served they gave me my sons meal, my husband mind and so on. Several of the dishes were bland. Afterwards they were to bring a dessert with a candle for my husband. The put the candle in my dessert and served it to me. Oh, I am handicap and had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get there. No elevator. Yes, the manager compensated us but the evening was still ruined.

“Good music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Enjoyed your music. Being outdoors the volume was able to dissipate some as we can't handle loud any more! Keep in mind most of the tourists this time of year are older folks who don't want it too loud.Pat

“Give me the Honky-Tonk Blues!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Secreted away- up a fire escape on the back side of B.B.Kings Blues Club- this place embodies the strangeness that makes Memphis different from other cities. It's cool. It's hidden. Who would hide a restaurant up a fire escape? Apparently it was a good idea because you won't be alone! There are always authentic blues singers and great southern style food. The bar is busy. Reservations are needed.
