“Best music museum in Memphis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

This was very well-run and there were lots of opportunities to sit and listen to the music. Duplicates some of the Graceland exhibits and some of the Stax Museum but does it better than either in that you can sit and listen as long as you like. After all, it's the music that matters.

“Let there B Music”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Unbelievable that we were in here for close to 4 hours and it just did not feel it. There is a lot of interesting history of blues, rockabilly, soul all the Memphis sounds. Photos, video clips to watch, multiple soundtracks to listen to, and various memorabilia of the stars. There are costumes, instruments, photos, even a motorcycle. If you don't have time to do both Sun studios and this, just go here. There is a great section on Sam Phillips and Sun Records. It's not the same as standing in the hallowed studio where the greats performed but it tells the same important information on how he started and the story of Elvis' 1st session at Sun- that's all right Mama, we have to get the info somewhere.

“LAWD O'MIGHTY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

this takes you from the early roots of Blues (AND you can listen to some tracks from the 30's ...) to the current state of R&R. being a smithsonian museum, it spared no expense to make sure you are entertained as well as educated!!! LOVE this!

Was our favorite museum / tourist site in the area. So informative! And located so close to Beale St you can just leave your car where you parked it and walk on over.
