“Good lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Stopped off here for lunch, only for a Cheese and Prawn baguette, but it was a great stop off. Staff were efficient and professional. The hotel is in a stunning location, beside the River Garry in the Great Glen.

Invergarry Hotel is perfectly situated in the Great Glen more or less in the middle of Fort William and Inverness. This means you can easily reach any sight or nature in this area easily. The hotel itself is OK. The small standard room that we had was up on the second floor and had lots of low ceilings from the roof. We were aware that the room is in the attic but it was a bit extreme and we had to take care of our heads. The bed was relatively small so was the bathroom. The shower was quite huge compared to the rest of the bathroom, which is a good thing. Breakfast was really good, however the smoked haddock was too smokey for my taste and the poached egg was slightly overcooked. The service was really friendly and helpful carrying one of our heavy suitcases up to the room. Even though it is not the perfect hotel I still would consider to come back but probably will not book the small standard room again.

As described in my response to your partner in the review she placed on 27th May. You reserved a small double room online and the standard cheaper rooms are very openly described online as "attic rooms and may not be suitable for tall people." We do this so that people are aware and can book a larger room which the Hotel has many available to you.
This gives the customer the choice of room and also price they wish to pay. The attic rooms are very reasonably priced.
Its difficult to know how to respond to a customer who books a small room and then marks the Hotel down on our reviews for having a small room....
"Book a larger room perhaps ?"

The title says it all. It is a friendly bed and breakfast with helpful staff and a very nice pub restaurant where you get quality food. Even the breakfast menu is much more than just your usual cooked breakfast. The standard rooms are in the upper floor and a bit smallish and we just can't get over those tiny, 140cm beds but we get used to them over time. The location is perfect for walks, hiking, visting the lakes but you have to have your own transport.

Hello

I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay.

We offer King Sized beds in our Classic Double Rooms and Super King in our Master Double Room - as advertised. You booked a small standard double room with a standard 4ft 6" bed. It is just a case of booking the right room for your requirements.

We look forward to welcoming you back

Regards

Had an unexpectedly good lunch today in the brasserie. Just a ham sandwich and ploughmans but full of flavour and great touches (drizzle of olive oil on the salad, excellent focaccia, for example). Much better than many run-of-the-mill hotels in small highland villages. Decor and music were also tasteful and avoided both kitsch and tartanry.

This is one of the most unique hotels that we had ever stayed, Full of charm. Accommodations were very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast and Dinner beautifully presented and tasty.

We felt the Highlands here with the mountains, glens and remoteness.

We would recommend going to see the area and staying here.

Room Tip: The family room Ben Tee was lovely. Mary French, Canada

We didn't notice at the time, but a few years back the hotel was completely revamped and now has a great mix of the character of the grand old building it is plus a modern, "boutique" feel to the rooms.

We stayed just one night and also enjoyed supper in the bistro (and an ale or two) - thoroughly enjoyable; we'll be back soon!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

After three lovely days at the Invergarry Hotel we drove the 80-odd miles to our next destination and parked in Pitlochry. In the middle of shopping, we were hailed by one of the Invergarry staff who just happened to be spending the morning there. A coincidence - yes, but she told us that the hotel was worried because they had discovered a bag containing medications left in one of our rooms. She reassured us that they could send it on or we could collect it ourselves. After some thought, we decided to drive back: my travelling companion is elderly and she couldn't remember which tablets had been in the bag. Back we went, to be greeted very warmly and given the missing bag. In the event, these tablets proved crucial: we had a medical scare later on in the trip and the hospital needed to see all her medication. Crisis averted, wonderful holiday, thank you, Invergarry!!
