“Wonderful, comfortable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

I had a wonderful weekend at the Glengarry Castle in early August. I had a single room, which had a beautiful full bathroom. The staff was excellent - very friendly and warm. And the view of Loch Oich can't be beat.

We headed for Glengarry Castle after finding ourselves in need of a bite to eat - an old copy of "Scotland the Best" suggested it might be a good idea. It was after 2pm and we were too late for lunch. But despite this we were welcomed and enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea in the library. The staff were warm and welcoming, the tea clearly home made and delicious. We will definitely be back, loved it.

Glengarry Castle Hotel has good sized rooms for families with young kids and very big warmm and comfortable bathrooms, which have been renovated.
It is situated on beautiful lush grounds by Loch Oich with the haunting Glengarry Castle ruin and an eerie capsized boat on the Loch beneath the ruin.
Wonderful walks and very peaceful.
The only pity is that the breakfast is nothing special.
The hotel is well situated to visit Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, about 30 minutes by car.
Our kids, 8 and 5 loved the Jacobite train trip from Mallaig (37 minutes from the hotel) to Fort William as it drove over the famous Harry Potter movie set of the bridge. We came back to Mallaig quite late, so highly recommendable was dinner at the Ben Nevis Inn, a fabulously converted barn into a pub with a view of Ben Nevis. Great food and lovely traditional music.

Loved the views of the loch from this hotel. The food and service were both very good; the rooms were comfortable. Our standard room turned out to be in former servants' quarters, accessible by a maze of hallways and stairs, but with a lovely view over a sheep pasture and down to the loch to the east. The hotel's public spaces are very nice, especially the gorgeous library. The jetty onto the loch is very peaceful, with a huge tree shading it. Also enjoyed a walk to the nearby castle ruins - very scenic.

This hotel is a great example of perfection in the hotel industry.

I can highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for one night.

I proposed to my girlfriend here on the dock overlooking the loch.

We had a beautiful meal.

The room, hotel, and grounds are perfect!

Great value for money.

We were travelling on our boat hired from Caley Cruisers and stopped off at the pontoon next to a shipwreck, to discover the Glengarry Castle Hotel. They served a traditional high tea for 9 pounds per person. It was vey filling. I loved the fact that it was served in various rooms on the ground floor and we were placed in the library. Momentarily could pretend we were living in our own manor home. The views from the windows were wonderful. The food was fresh and plentiful, the service was efficient and unobtrusive. A lovely, accidental find.
