Spent two nights at the Claichaig Inn during May.
This hotel has a great location right in the middle of Glen Coe. A home from home for weary climbers, walkers or softies like me. Sign at reception says' No hawkers or Campbells'. You will soon learn why.
Very welcoming from the start. All of the staff we dealt with were enthusiastic, efficient helpfull and friendly. Rooms are not luxurious, but are adequate. Try to get a room with a view over Glen Coe. Ones at the back have a view over roof and kitchen, with more distant 'mountain' views. There are also self - catering lodges in the grounds, which looked fine from the outside.
Food is fine, with generous portions. Available all day from about 12 noon until 9.00pm. There are three bars: a lounge, a quieter eating room and the famous 'Boots Bar', which is where it all happens. If you are there on a Saturday night, there will probably be some live music in here. Great fun, with a real mix of customers - climbers and bikers - a real great atmosphere. Try the heather beer - its magic!
