We stayed in the cabins at Balyett, although there is a B&B there too. The cabin we stayed in had one big bedroom which would have slept 5/6 people. There was also a kitchen area and living room area.
The cabin is minutes away from the ferry port at Stranraer, and very easy to find (its on the same road as the port). It is very good value for money too.
The owners were such lovely people. We arrived late at night and they were very welcoming and helped us to settle in, they even brought us some beer!!. The cabin was lovely, quite charming, and my bed had an electric blanket on.. :o)
The fridge was stocked with milk, juice, eggs and jams etc.. just what you need as a hungry traveller.
We were travelling by motorbike and there was a lean to where your bikes could park, which is right next to the main house (so more secure, although the place is not in an area where you'd expect any problems).
We opted for a breakfast, which was wonderful (complete with humour), and they catered for vegetarians.
I would recommend Balyett if you're heading to Stranraer, whether you want self catering or B&B. I'll certainly be back there again.
