We stayed in the cabins at Balyett, although there is a B&B there too. The cabin we stayed in had one big bedroom which would have slept 5/6 people. There was also a kitchen area and living room area.
The cabin is minutes away from the ferry port at Stranraer, and very easy to find (its on the same road as the port). It is very good value for money too.
The owners were such lovely people. We arrived late at night and they were very welcoming and helped us to settle in, they even brought us some beer!!. The cabin was lovely, quite charming, and my bed had an electric blanket on.. :o)
The fridge was stocked with milk, juice, eggs and jams etc.. just what you need as a hungry traveller.
We were travelling by motorbike and there was a lean to where your bikes could park, which is right next to the main house (so more secure, although the place is not in an area where you'd expect any problems).
We opted for a breakfast, which was wonderful (complete with humour), and they catered for vegetarians.
I would recommend Balyett if you're heading to Stranraer, whether you want self catering or B&B. I'll certainly be back there again.

I recently stayed at Balyett with my daughter and family. Lovely rooms en suite, just minutes from the town and the 2 ferry ports. Apart from the fabulous Scottish breakfasts the highlight of our stay was my grandson (5) being given the responsibility of letting the 5 ducks out in the morning and collecting the one egg! Highly recommended.

“Excellent Scottish B&B”

Balyette Bed and Breakfast

My wife & I and our 2 children stayed at Balyett B&B for 2 nights in July 2007 on holiday from Australia and from the moment we walked through the door we were all made to feel very welcome.

We stayed in 2 upstairs rooms with great views of Loch Ryan from the double room. The bedrooms and all the associated facilities were spotlessly clean and very well appointed.

The home cooked Scottish breakfasts were fantastic and included haggis which my family tried for the first time and loved.

Balyett B&B is in the country on the outskirts of Stranraer but is less than a 5 minute drive from the Stranraer ferry terminal for those like us who want to make the trip to Ireland.

We thought Balyett offered great value for money and we wont bother looking at other options for accommodation next time we are in this part of Scotland, 10/10.

Recently spent 2 nights at this B&B with 4 other friends, at the start and end of our holiday in Ireland in two different rooms, both were very clean, well equipped and had en suites, plus tea, coffee, sherry and anything you could need. Plus a great lounge with TV to relax in. This is a fantastic B&B, very friendly owners, fabulous breakfast especially the haggis (no tomato sauce needed). Fab countryside location with fields of corn, fantastic sea views, farm animals, very friendly pigs and only minutes from the town centre (with a very good chinese restaurent) and perfect for the ferry port so you can have a lie in as it is so close. Cannot say how pleased we were with our choice of B&B, great value and they could really teach most of the large hotel chains how to do it right.

We had a lovely stay in this farmhouse which is both a a lovely home as well as a comfortable bed and breakfast with lovely decor. The view o f Loch Ryan from our bedroom window was breathtaking in the winter morning light.. Great food and very friendly people. Would recommend it to everyone.
