“Lovely little place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

We have just got back from a two night stay in the Dunskey and what a lovely little place it was. We had room 10 on the very top floor with amazing views over the port.
The room was very spacious with en suit bathroom. Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room and a very comfy bed!
Breakfast's were lovely, well cooked and presented with a happy smiling face!
a lovely place which i know we will return to in the future!

Was pleased to get in here as Portpatrick was busy, and indeed there was a great welcome from the charming and he;lpful host. The atmosphere is good, and the lived-in quality of the decor - especially the doors and doorframes gave the feel of a slightly chaotic but comfortable home. It was good to have a single room that felt like a proper single witrh ensuite. Not very well soundproofed however. Bathroom of a good size, and shower curtain always skillfully folded on arrival back at teatime. But soap of some kind would be handy! And whilst everything appeared clean, oh dear when the toilet brush was lifted out of its holder it was dripping with a murky brown liquid in which it had been sitting! Breakast was tasty, but got the impression not enough people work here for numbers of rooms, the charming obliging host struggled to cope! Certainly nothing to advise against staying here, but a couple of question marks!

my husband and i have just returned from a 2 night stay at this guest house. accomodation basic but clean. on arrival we were allocated room 2 which was spacious and clean, however the ensuite did not have a walk-in shower, only a showerhead over the bath. as this did not suit our personal needs we asked if there was another room available. gareth the owner was very helpful and offered us the choice of another 2 rooms as it was winter and still relatively quiet. we opted for room3 which was a family room in the attic and suited our needs. the accomodation is close to the village, although coming back is up a steep hill and stairs so may not suit everyone.breakfast was good and served by gareth who was helpful and friendly.it was a large house and must require a lot of looking after but personally felt it could be doing with a little bit more tlc as there were some unfinished jobs, that being said it was a comfortable and pleasant stay!

Room Tip: room2 spacious with lovely views over the gardens, although no walk-in shower. room3 was a spacious...

My husband and I stayed there early last year, it was fantastic! Very welcoming and very peaceful. Wonderful breakfast and great location. Just booked again for another visit with the kids. Would highly recommend.

I stayed here for two nights with my cousin. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with excellent long distance views. There were tea, coffee and chocolate making facilities in the room. Breakfast was excellent and service was efficient and friendly. We had a very pleasant stay and happily recommend it to others.

stayed here for one night. Portpartick is very picturesque and the Dunskey guest house is in a good location near to the centre of the village, although up quite a steep hill. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean, the room was spacious enough, tea and coffee were provided and the breakfast was good. The host was very pleasant and keen to please. I would recommend staying here

We found this guest house very disappointing - I had specifically asked if they offered a vegetarian cooked breakfast and was told they did but it only meant a meat one without the meat so the choice was very limited ( no veggie sausage or anything). Also the room had a bathroom down 4 steps with no handrail and my husband is disabled so it was a problem, particularly during the night. No tea or milk in the room when we arrived and no soap or shampoo or biscuits. Small portable type TV with limited channels. We did not expect luxury as price was reasonable but felt it was "bare minimum".
Bed was comfortable though.
