“Simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2009

Ive stayed in some hotels, but this byfar must be the best hotel, ill start with the important stuff, BAR. what a selection of drinks, so much to choose from and barry (friendly barman) he was such a laugh not the boring barmen who tend to stand there as if he didnt want to be there! the food, OH MY GOD, i did wait a little longer than i expected but to be fair it was extreamly busy, when my order turned up at the table it looked edable even the plate, i ate everybit if i had to complain it would be there was too much, and dessert was YUMMY i even orderd a second 1!..

The bedroom we stayed in, i must admit needs decorating,, was COZY and WARM with the best sea view for miles, the bed must of been superking because i could of invited friends to have a game of football on it, it was that big, it was very clean but with a small television, but who needs television with a view like we had, the room also had en-suite, it was very basic, but hey it worked,

if there was ever such away to run the perfect pub/Hotel then the harbour House is that. i would go back YEAH.

We stayed at this hotel from the 9th oct -12th we got discount for the 3rd day. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely staff Barry and Zara and the local people also made us very welcome. We ate there every night and the food was lovely no complaints. The rooms are basic but our room no 5 was very spacious and we had a sea view which was lovely. We are definately returning next year. So keep the good customer service up guys and Thankyou for everything. KEN& JANICE

We booked into the Harbour House Hotel in Portpatrick for one night as part of a tour round Scotland. This is a rather tired looking place which has a couple of rooms downstairs for Bar / Bar food. Both of these are dark and rather shabby. Once in our room it soon became apparent that the only redeeming feature of the place is the sea view. Our room was basically clean - although the shower was in dire need of a good scrub, and the shower curtain needed chucking out. The electric shower looked like it was made 20 years ago - and performed as expected! The en-suite facilities turned out to be a grubby loo and shower in a large cupboard with the sink located in the bedroom area. The bed was nothing to get excited about, but was adequate. There was what appeared to be a rather unsafe light fitting recessed into the ceiling, with bare burnt wires. The bar wasn't somewhere we wanted to stay in too long however the front and side of the place overlooks a rather nice harbour and sea view, capturing the warm sun as it sets in the west. We decided not to eat our evening meal in this place - and once we experienced breakfast we knew that was a good decision. Breakfast can only be described as well-below average consisting of undrinkable tea, poor quality orange drink (not fresh juice I suspect), under cooked black pudding and over-cooked sausage served on a cold plate. Was it value for money - no way, would we go back - no way.
The restaurant we had our dinner the evening before was just along the road called the Waterfront - that was superb and a review will be written for that,
