“fantastic ne-erday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

have visited and stayed in numerous properties in portpatrick over the past 20 years - but this hotel is outstanding for friendliness, comfort and food. what makes it sp special is steve and his fantastic team of staff. we have just spent another 3 nights here to celebrate new year. ( stayed for a weekend in september) we were welcomed like old friends and had a most memorable stay yet again. rooms are done to an excellent standard. food is lovely and reasonably priced. drinks promotions keep it very competative - which is obvious by the number of locals who frequent it. Jude the bar manager could not be more helpful if she tried. every single member of staff was friendly and courteous and also very efficient - no matter how busy it got you never had to wait long to be served.CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN -- THANKS YOU GUYS.XX

Room Tip: rooms are all done up to a high standard. cosy, clean and very comfortable. rooms 6 7 and 8 on top...

Visited Portpatrick for the first time and stayed 3 nights at the Harbour House Hotel. The entrance to the hotel made us wonder what we had booked!. However the staff were most welcoming and helpful and when we entered our room on the first floor we were more than pleasantly surprised. The room was of a good size, well furnished with an excellent views overlooking the harbour. The bathroom was exceptional, clean and with high quality fittings. It did however lack a toilet roll holder! Breakfast was very good and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We ate in the restaurant on one evening and were more than satisfied with the food and service. We used the bar on most days and the staff again were very friendly. If in the area we would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms 4 & 5 have fantastic harbour views.

We had a great September weekend (just back on Monday). Hotel staff are all excellent. Could not complain about a thing. The only problem I had was I kept banging my head off of the ceiling/wall. We were in room 7 with a fantastic front view but as the room is in an attic it had a curved/sloping ceiling and every time I went to that side of the room I hit my head off it (and I am only 5.2"). I certainly would ask for another room next time. Other than that the weather was great and the food was great - couldn't ask for anything else.

fantastic renovation of what was a tired hotel. we stayed in room 6 on top floor and had fantastic side sea view. 1 double and 2 single beds in room. huge modern shower in bathroom. very comfy bed. staff were all very friendly. have had better breakfasts elsewhere in portpatrick - they bring your coffee and toast first - with a tiny amount of butter. on second morning i ordered poached eggs and toast - you could have played tennis with the eggs they were so hard and there was no toast or butter left - when i asked for more it took 15 minutes to bring it to me by which time my eggs were stone cold!!! don't wish to sound negative as we had a great time and would use hotel again but PLEASE wait till rest of breakfast is ready before bringing coffee and toast. also check jug of orange juice is kept topped up as both mornings we had to ask for some as jug was empty.

Room Tip: rooms on top floor - 6, 7, and 8 were beautiful and had excellent views

we stayed only one night and thoroughly recommend the hotel. We had supper in the restaurant, which was fine and breakfast the next morning was good. All staff , and there were lots of them very friendly and courteous with a special thanks to Charlie for telling us about his exploits having just joined the lifeboat crew. They filled our thermos flasks with " real" coffee without hesitation the morning we set off. We had one of the newly refurbished rooms at the top of the building, (low ceilings) but that adds to the charm, we sat in the dormer window overlooking the harbour before supper, really peaceful. Good selection of beers in the bar.

A last minute stay at Harbour House (on a recommendation from local waiting staff) was an unexpected delight. The staff member showed us three vacant rooms, the best of which was the newly refurbished one on the top floor.
Headroom was restricted, and although my partner and I are six foot plus, we didn't mind. The decor was plush and modern and had a fabulous view across the harbour to my favourite restaurant which we'd just eaten at.
The bed was very comfortable and the thick curtains made it so dark that I slept soundly and undisturbed well past my usual wake-up time!
Breakfast was delicious, and the manager who served us was friendly, helpful and informative.
We will be staying again next time we're in this beautiful area - which I've been returning to since I was a child.
I hope this helps someone else in deciding to stay here... It's a real gem.
