My husband & I stayed at the Strathfillan House on our hike of the West Highland Way. We were chagrined that we had to walk nearly half a mile (after a long day's walk!) in the opposite direction we would be heading the next day, in order to get there. However, the house is beautiful (in an old church), and the room was spacious, the bed soft, and the hospitality kind.
The only things I'll murmur against were 1) the water was not very hot in the shower (no bath tub). 2) One of the owners had to leave, as he is a volunteer fireman, so that his wife was stranded with the two children & could not drive us into Tyndrum (a couple of miles away) because she did not have the car with the car seat. BUT, she did end up taking us in to dinner eventually & picking us back up again later despite all that.
Breakfast was very good, and we were so happy to have had a good night's rest (after 2 nights of camping) that it was all in all a very positive experience.
