“Royal Hotel Tyndrum, Scotland ( closes during the day)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

The hotel was ok, but it is closed all day so you have to go on the trips, there is nothing around the hotel, so if like us do not go on all the trips its boring, we could not get a sandwich or cup of tea, we had to take our lives in our hands and go to the green welly, for a cup of tea and something to eat,,normally this would be ok but the weather was bad we had thick snow the hotel never put grit or salt on the front or drive way so we were slipping all over the place even the coaches had murder getting in and out they were just sliding backwards,, the bar closes 15 mins before the meal so everyone had to get their drinks and take them into the dinning room with them you could not order a drink from the table, the food was fair nothing to write home about, breakfast was good, we had a premeium room never pay more for one if you cant get a free upgrade, we had springs coming through, so they had to put a quilt under the sheets , this was fine and we did get a good nights sleep, the staff were lovely and worked very hard, and the coaches comfy drivers were very good and day trips good, though we would have liked longer at places, no toilets on any of the coaches but plenty of stops which was fine, I dont think we would stay there again, as we dont go on all the trips, other than that the hotel was ok the staff great and willing to help, they wait at the front of the hotel to wave to you as you aproach and take your bags to your room for you, rooms very clean as is hotel i would give it 7 out of 10,only because it closed during the day

Room Tip: twins are bigger than doubles,

We were there 30 of us from yorkshire all we could say was it was warm and clean, the food l thought was poor, but edable, the staff were very good, the rooms could do with a facelift, more for the older person as the entertainment was diabolical, apart from the last night the comedian was very good, we are only in our fifty's and would have likes a disco, but you cannot win them all, Patrick was our coach driver from south africa he was very good and had all the coach in stitches we thought he was kidding us but he was not he was deadly serious about the do's and dont's of the holiday.

Our first holiday with Highland Heritage ( following recommendation from a friend) commenced on 19th November 2012 at The Royal Hotel Tyndrum, and right from arrival our experience was wonderful! Staff were waiting to offload luggage to rooms and this was undertaken in an efficient and friendly way without fuss.
We found the room to be perfect, and hotel very impressive, with our first meal excellent made all the more pleasant by the dining room staff. They were very quick and efficient and so friendly and their smiles never did wane.
This standard was maintained throughout our too short a stay as was the over all ambience and atmosphere of the hotel.
To say the entertainment was very good would not do justice to the performers who could all grace a bigger stage without difficulty.
The trips out were very good and even the mixed weather could not dampen our spirits.
I could go on with my praises, but you will realise by now how thoroughly satisfied we were with our holiday and have already sung the praises of Highland Heritage to others.
Thank you very much for a most enjoyable holiday, and we look forward to returning at the eartliest opportunity( which regretably is governed by the availability of coach pick -up in Buxton)

This was our first ''coach holiday' and Highland Heritage was chosen because of a leaflet that came though our letterbox. We could not have chosen better. Our driver 'Gary' was excellent both in his driving and the commentaries, he made the history and beauty of Scotland come alive for us. We stayed at the Royal in Tyndrum where both the Hotel itself and ALL the staff were excellent nothing too much trouble. and always cheerful and pleasant. Extreme good value for money, it would have cost over £200 in fuel alone for our car.
We are already looking at next years tours when we hope to return.

Room Tip: Our room was allocated by the staff on arrival, (24) this we found very pleasant, we do not know w...

Went to the royal 19/11/12 monday to friday from Doncaster with Highland Heritage, very nice hotel, good food, good entertainment, spotlessly clean, the staff worked very hard, will definitely be going again next year. Our driver was called frank, he was excellent, he deserves a pay rise as do the hotel staff, DO NOT take any notice of some reviews, like "forget about camera", there wer'e plenty of opportunities for photo's,or "its very noisy " we wer'e in bedroom 72 above the entrance and never heard any traffic at all, also "dont go unless you are 70-75 plus" What utter rubbish !! Admittedly there were not any teenagers, but you would not expect any.
Thanks Royal hotel, and Highland Heritage, five stars to you both.

This hotel was booked with Highland Heritige tours after a leaflet came through our door,we was aware that the journey would take 10hrs as we were travelling from sheffield but with the rest stops the journey quickly passed, on arrival at the hotel we were told the manager would come on to the coach and give us our room numbers then we disembarked into the hotel straight to our room and the key was in the door and our luggage was there also, very organised everyone was checked in in a matter of minutes.
The meals i thought were quite good 3 choices every evening, once you are seated you keep the same place throughout your stay a good idea i thought as with everyone eating at the same time there is no rushing about to get your "favourite" seat, breakfast was much the same 8 45 everything is brought to your table you have nothing to do only eat!
The room we had was no11 on the ground floor facing the rear the room was compact but had everything for a short stay tea, coffee, and cookies, fruit bowl ,bath robes, hair dryer, flat screen telly small bath and one of the best showers i have ever used really hot and powerful,The decor itself is dated but not in the room long enough for it to ruin the stay, i would have no worries about stopping here again!!!

This was my first time with Highland Heritage and I will certainly be using them again the food was excellent the staff were very good nothing to much trouble. The pick up was very smooth with plenty of breaks. The days out were very good the trip to Oban was nice for me as I had not been there since I was at school. The entertainment was also very good I even managed a third prize in the fancy dress. It was good to see the hand gel being used everywhere that virus is a bad one.All the drivers were very good and helpful the feeder coach driver waited with us in the lay by till our taxi came.I also want to mention the phone call I had the next day to see if I got home ok.I look forward to my next holiday with them.
