I've stayed here many times over the years, and to be honest, I've been dissapointed in the past. Foreign workers and grubby rooms. However, it's been refurbished and is an excellent hotel.
Great food, fantastic rooms, and really nice staff, all local folk.
Highly recommended, and quite a turnaround from how it was!!

This hotel has been recently totally refurbished and overall the impression is very good. Nice, clean, modern stylish rooms, lovely food and friendly staff. If there had to be one little (teeny weeny) criticism it would be that the cleaning staff need to advise the maintenance staff when there are spotlight bulbs out in the rooms and make sure they are replaced quickly. There were a fair few out in our room which made it a bit hit and miss with make up and hair drying etc. We did mention it to staff when we were there so we hope they've taken it on board.

We also had a reduced rate as it was a very late booking, but I'm not sure I would have been happy paying full price for our room (£140), lovely as it was.

“Excellent value”

As has been mentioned by other reviewers the hotel has been refurbished. I believe that the conservatory is still to be completed but we weren't disturbed by any building work. We were in room 12 which had a lovely view and the decor is very modern. Good job we didn't want to watch TV though - the lovely flat screen TV had very fuzzy pictures on all chanels. Not a problem for us but it might be for anyone staying on business. We were told that the restaurant was full for evening meals (I assume non-residents had booked tables as the hotel didn't appear to be full). We could have got a table very early but decided to walk into Helensburgh to eat (ended up with Chinese after a few drinks). It's quite a trek but it's a lovely walk watching the sea birds and the Herons. Once in the town there was plenty of choice of restaurants and bars and we easily got a taxi back to the hotel (there is a taxi rank). The bed was comfy and the bathroom was nice and modern. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order which makes a nice change from the large chains where you have to help yourself to food kept warm under lamps.

Overall I felt it was good value for money (we paid around £79 for bed and breakfast), the staff were friendly and helpful and I would certainly stay again.

we had our wedding there in september and it was fabulous. have stayed several times at the hotel and have enjoyed every time. all of our guests commented on the hotel and how friendly the staff were, and what a good choice we had made.we also had 13 children staying over for 2 nights and although at times they were a bit noisy the staff took all this in their stride. the food is really good and lots of it, my husband likes chips with everything and is a bit fussy with food but the staff even found that "no problem". although the menus on offer didnt really suit the kids the hotel offered several alternatives to suit them all.
we hope go back regularly and would recommend it as a good hotel with very friendly staff. there has been a lot of work going on at the hotel and although it isnt quite finished yet it has never spoiled any of our visits. the kids enjoy the walk infront of the hotel that leads down to the water, they like to look for crabs and skim the stones (so do we ) we cant thank Drew, Elizabeth, Lorraine and the rest of the staff enough for making our stays and our wedding day so enjoyable.

Excellent Hotel Refurbished to a high standard.
Bedroom (11) XL views, spacious, restful, nice furniture and fittings, comfortable bed. Tilt and Turn windows giving good ventilation, we like to open a window during the evening

Good quality food.

All the Staff we met were very attentive and helpful.

There are plenty of parking spaces- one website indicated there is no parking.
