“Amazing beautiful scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

If you are looking for the perfect place to stay and chill out then this place is it! The rooms are beautiful and quirky, and have stunning views of the loch!

Only downside to our stay was that the room wasn't serviced. They came at 8.45AM and we asked for them to come back as we were still getting changed for the day. So on arriving back at 10pm we noticed that our room still hadnt been serviced. But, I really have to big up the staff at the hotel because they were very hands on in their approach to this and came to our rescue straight away!

The bar meals are a Tad expensive but beautifully done!

A great place to stay surrounded by nature and even the pool and steam room was clean and nice to relax in after long days

All in all, a marvellous place to stay!!! Well done everyone associated with this place

Stayed here in freezing cold weather as part of our honeymoon. Room with balcony and sauna perfect. Nice touch was complimentary champagne and wedding card from hotel even though we didnt get married there. Evening meals fabulous in restaurant overlooking Loch so stunning views, buffet breakfast. Staff very pleasant and professional. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: Corbel rooms have stunning views

Treated to an overnight for my birthday. Beautiful location, great hotel and lovely staff. There was such a relaxing atmosphere and the food was fabulous. View from the room balcony and the hotel in general were lovely

Room Tip: Room with a sauna and balcony overlooking the Loch which was delightful

Negative comments about hotels remind me of a conversation overheard years ago. When a grumpy visitor to our village asked “will I like it here?” he was challenged with “I don’t know, did you like it where you were before?”

When I hand over over-taxed income to hoteliers, I hope to be welcomed into an environment as good, if not better than my own home, nourished to a higher standard than my own amateur hands can manage.

The Lodge on Loch Lomond was not expecting us, having recently retired from a regulated life, my wife and I had set out from our home in the Scottish Borders with no plan. On reaching Loch Lomond, we still had energy to drive further north but, ever the curious ones, we saw the sign to the Lodge and decided to call in and found its setting absolutely breathtaking.

The staff could not have been more welcoming and invited us to look around. So welcoming that we asked if there was a spare room and there was, just the one, on a cold March evening, which says something about its popularity. Our room overlooked the shoreline with glimpses of snow covered mountains across the water, Susan opened the windows and unlocked the restful sound of lapping waves.

Invited to try the spa area before supper, we enjoyed a swim, sauna and steam before returning to our room for pre-dinner champagne. We were offered a table overlooking the shore, the magnificent view gradually hidden by darkness but revealed in all its glory when we returned for breakfast, both meals comprised excellent fresh local produce.

"The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are." said Dr Samuel Johnson embarking upon his tour of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

We highly recommend The Lodge on Loch Lomond and have already booked more nights in June.

We visited here last week to view the wedding facilities as we were thinking of getting married here, the wedding planner is lovely, no problems there. However, we were later humiliated by the bar staff and I subsequently would not have my wedding at this venue due to this. After the show round by the wedding planner we were asked if we wanted a drink in the bar, we had a pint and a half of lager. We were not sure if this was complementary so my partner went to the bar after we had finished and asked if we needed to pay for the drinks, 'no, they are complementary' we were told by the bar man. We then proceeded to put on our coats and walked out, we were then chased (yes, really!) by a young waitress brandishing a piece of paper saying can you pay for these please (I have never been so embarassed in my life, other people saw and it would have appeared like we were trying to run off without paying the bill), we explained that the bar man had told us we didnt need to pay, she replied, oh well he probably thought you had just had tea or coffee. We then paid and left and promptly decided we would not got married there due to the service. The rudeness of this member of staff has cost them thousands of pounds we were going to spend on a wedding, we will be booking it elsewhere in Loch Lomond.

I got married at the Lodge at the end of February, I can't say enough about the service we receive and how well everything went. The staff were really excellent, nothing was too much trouble. We also stayed in a Corbett room (39 I believe) which is right on the corner of the lodge and overlooks the ben and the loch. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend the Lodge for anyone thinking of visiting loch lomond, the service is great, the food is excellent and the views are spectacular.

Stayed in the hotel on the 2nd Feb with my wife & can't fault the place. The room & the staff were superb. We were going to eat elswhere but as the rain started we just stayed in to have a meal. So glad we did. Not very good at writting reviews but well done to all as it had to get to this standard.

Room Tip: Choose the room upstairs at the far end. Took this pic by simply opening the window of our room.
