Description: Great food in a great location - that is what The Village Rest is all about. Always comfortable and friendly, you can be assured of a great time whether you're just in for a cup of coffee and a cake, or a large meal. Our varied and well balanced menu changes regularly and is in season and the food always fresh. We aspire to serve delicious homemade dishes with locally sourced produce. Our atmosphere is relaxed with an eclectic interior. The Village Rest is casual enough for lunch or tea, and yet formal enough for special occasions. In the perfect village of Luss, The Village Rest is ideally placed for enjoying Loch Lomond and the scenery of the national park. Arguably Scotland's most beautiful loch, Loch Lomond is also one of the largest. There is huge variety too, between the gentle sweeping farmland of the southern edge to the rugged highland shores of the north. Luss is positioned on the edge of the Highlands and has great views across to the islands and mountains of Loch Lomond.Luss is connected to central Scotland by the A82, a good quality fast road, with driving times of less than an hour from central Glasgow.

“Quite simply superb”

Brilliant food, great menu and fab, friendly service. Even though we visited during a busy Sunday lunchtime there were no problems with long ways for a table or food. The menu is extensive and the portion size very generous.

We had a short visit to Luss while on a trip to see the Edinburgh Tattoo .The visi was not long enough to explore fully but we had a pleasant sandwich lunch ,huge thick slices of bread.Nice pot of tea ,lovely happy staff shame we did not have more time .Bothered a bit by the dozy wasps but no stings !

“Cozy little bistro”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014 via mobile

Food was ok. Service a little slow. Was had lentil soup and it was delicious, however the haddock was so-so and I didn't like the frozen chips. Desert was good.

“Beautiful & charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Now this was like having afternoon tea on the set of Take the High Road (Luss is where this was filmed). It was a beautiful sunny day and we sat outside and had tea and cake - just divine. Beautful, fabulous cake and lovely service.

“ok-ish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

Good surroundings but the 1980's music was not appropriate for an evening restaurant, try some classical or traditional Scottish or something? Mussels to start were good, staff seemed uninterested on the whole. Main course, partners was good, I had steak pie with what tasted like it had half a ton of salt added, the main bug bear was the main thing that always spoils every restaurant.....frozen chips......uuurgh.... is it really so hard to cut potatoes up and fry them instead of cooking unappetizing hard lumps of yuk? We did complain and they made a small reduction, but I am sorry to say we wont be back.
