“Great family holiday, stunning location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

We stayed in the Drimsynie Court holiday cottages and I was taken aback at how spacious and modern our cottage was, we went as a family of 10 and all stayed in the one cottage very comfortably.
We had a mixed bag of weather on our stay but still had plenty to do whatever the weather. We bought a 'Rover Pass' and found it to be excellent value for money, however the games, softplay and arcade area were rather tired and could do with a bit of a makeover. The swimming pool was lovely, golf course great and there was ice skating, a gym, carpet bowls, putting, bike hire etc. We didn't have time to fit in all the activates that we could have done with the Rover Pass. We ate out on a couple of nights and the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful and the entertainment was good. We went on a few of the walks whilst on our stay and the scenery was breathtaking, it's a place where you could never tire of the view. We went over to the village a few times and found the locals to be very friendly.
Only one thing detracted from our stay and that was the fly's (not the midges which you would expect) they were everywhere! However some of our party had been before and said that the fly's had never been so prevalent on their previous stays.
Drymsynie is a place we would definitely go back to.

I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay! Thankyou so much for your kind review.
We are looking at our public areas and they will be getting a spruce up very soon.
I'm glad you enjoyed the food. We have just invested in a completely new menu and now the food is even better.
Please come back again soon.

This Hotel and resort is very wilted. Fabric maintenance and upkeep has a huge back log of outstanding work, reception and leisure facilities utterly dated and looks it. Only thing that looks good is the golf course . Conclusion:- has been used to optimise profit since opening and with only the bare minimum of maintenance investment. A thoroughly jaded place.

Hello,
I'm really sorry that we didn't live up to your expectations here at the Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village.
Our staff will be so disappointed to read your thoughts on the park.
We are a family business and have a very strong ethos of re-investment into our properties. In fact, we have just invested very large sums of money at Hunters Quay Holiday Village in Dunoon.
Refurbishment is a constant job and we have teams working most of the year, repairing and maintaining our grounds.
For 2012, we have a major refurbishment program planned for Drimsynie, including lodge upgrades and I very much hope you will consider returning to see this.
Any suggestions you have for this are much appreciated. Please email: jenny.mccann@argyllholidays.com if you wish to share your thoughts further.
Thanks

Location, Location, Location.....and facilities to match.
We took advantage of the family pass as it takes all the paying for each of the many leisure facilities, which we all had fun with. Games and fun for all ages and great food and service. We are quite discerning buyers, and the only change I would make is to offer a pass which doesn't include the golf as I'm sure this would be an even more attractive option to us who couldn't take advantage of this particular facility.

However, we loved and will definitely be back, Thanks to all the staff from Graham & Tracey Barr & boys.

we got a bargain with one of the deals either groupon or kgb can't remember which and what a deal, went on 29th june for three nights. the facilities are gr8...we stayed in lapwing lodge which was very comfortable but a bit "tired" could do with a lick of paint and sightly more modern tv....not that we spent much time in lodge as there is so much to do....staff in rob roy were extremely pleasant......biggest pest were midges but even drimsynie hotel can't fix that......we have friends going next week on our recommendation so we will see what they think......we will definately be back.....so much more to see and do....

We spent full week covering New Year, staying in Kingfisher 3 bedroom van. We were two couples, so had plenty of room although could be a bit cramped if there was 6 of you. Only slight problem we had was boiler wasn't working one morning which was a bit nippy as it was end December, but I went to reception to let them know, and by the time I walked back to the van, the maintenance guy was knocking at the door. Was unable to fix there and then, but as were on our way out didn't worry. Was fixed by the time we got back, and also he came back later that day to make sure all was still okay! Facilities for cooking, eating, showering etc were excellent (although the single beds are not for people taller than 5ft 4" - but thats a common caravan feature!!).

The only other slight quibble would be the £35 charge for the Hogmany Dance - we were advised on booking that there would be a 3 course meal and entertainment into the wee small hours. It turned out the meal was either curry or chilli, which was served buffet style - bit mean for the money, but then again the waitress whispered - "no-one will notice if you go for seconds!! " - so we did!! Food did taste lovely though, and had EXCELLENT table service for drinks the whole evening from the lovely Hannah. Our table was actually in the bar area, rather than the main hall, and again although we were a bit disappointed to start with, turned out had much more room and much better service than the tables pushed very close together in the main function hall. Entertainment was okay - what you expect for Scottish Hogmany - anyway we had a ball!! Finished fairly early at 1AM but we just partied on in the caravan.

Have also previously stayed in Osprey, Heron & Eagle lodges, and can honestly say have never had any complaints!! For the price you pay, especially off season when it can be as cheap as £15pppn, we think it is fantastic value!!"

We have been as a couple, with two or three others, and as large groups with 2 or 3 lodges, all ages from toddler up to nearly retired, and have always found LOADS to do for everyone.

I don't understand those who complain about the singe track road in - IT'S A VILLAGE IN THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS for goodness sake - if it had dual carriageway there it would be hell of a lot busier, and part of the attraction is feeling you are away from it all, even though only one hour drive from Glasgow. Take your time on the road, enjoy the views and just CHILL!!!

We are booked for a 3 night weekend break in October with two other couples, staying in a Lapwing lodge, and I honestly can't wait.

One last thing, people complain about the staff being rude - I always find if you speak to people the way you want to be spoken to, they are very pleasant and helpful. Just because they work there and their job is to serve you (food, drink etc.) shouldn't mean treating them like servants. A smile, please and thank you gets you a long way!!

Bit of a mixed bag. The restaurant food was excellent as was the service generally. The bed in our room was comfortable and we had 3 good nights sleep. Fantastic views across Loch Goil.

However, the room decor and furnishings were 'tired' and cleanliness was poor, e.g we had a four poster bed with a thick layer of dust on top. The bathroom only had a net curtain, so no room for modesty when the light was on ! A proper curtain would be nice. The shaver point was on the wall opposite the mirror ! In this room you couldn't watch tv in bed, but I don't think all the rooms were like that. Breakfast was in Rob Roys Bar and not the restaurant as mentioned in the room information - felt more like a cafe than a hotel.

We came to the conclusion that the main business here is the holiday homes park (they have several others across the Cowel peninsula) and the hotel has been left as an afterthought. A shame as there is potential for something much better. The infiormation pack provided on arrival includes an invitation to go and look at some holiday homes - this had echoes of timeshare selling.

Would we stay again ? probably not, but if you are looking for peace and quiet away from it all, it's OK for a short stay. Mobile phone and tv reception in this area is not good. This didn't bother us, but beware if it is important to you.

Room Tip: Insist on a room with views over the loch

Hi,
I'm really glad you liked the food and you found the service excellent. We really take pride in providing a great atmosphere for our guests.
However, I'm sorry you were a bit unhappy with the room.
I really appreciate you taking the time to write your thoughts on here because we can take action and make things better.
If you would be kind enough to email and let me know which room you stayed in (or your name so I can find out), I will personally visit the room and make the necessary changes.
On another note, we definately don't sell timeshare and I'm concerned it's coming across that way.
We do find our holidaymakers are interested in having the information on caravans for sale, so I would be delighted with any suggestions in delivering this message in a more appropriate manner.
My email is : jenny.mccann@argyllholidays.com. Please drop me a line.

We hadn't read the previous reviews of this holiday park prior to visiting and glad we hadn't as went with no pre-conceived ideas about this accommodation. From the drive down the 6 mile access road from the main road we realised what a stunning setting this holiday park has. We were in a Kingfisher Superior caravan and although not set on the Loch it was within easy walking distance and set away from the main centre which suited us. The caravan was the best equipped we have ever stayed in, immaculate and spacious with all the facilities you would require. The park was fairly quiet and provided an extremely relaxing break in a tranquil setting. We visited the Rob Roy Lounge for both a meal and drinks and found all staff to be very efficient and polite with great service. We also visited the Shore House Inn in the village for an evening meal which was excellent with stunning views of the loch from the dining room. We took advantage of the grocery pack finding it a helpful starter and the Costcutter on site provided everything else required. The park is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area and even the typical wet weather could not spoil an enjoyable holiday!
