We stayed here because it was recommended in our guidebook - had planned to stay for a couple of nights but left after one. The hotel is clean, the food is fine, and some of the staff are polite and helpful, but......there is a real issue with the rudeness of one or two staff, which makes the whole experience very unpleasant. The atmosphere in the bar is very strange - we got the feeling they just wanted everyone to leave by about 9.30 - and most people did!

Hi - stayed here in June 2006 for two nights. We had excellent service. We attended a function 5 miles away on one night and the Manager drove her own car out to pick us up at 11pm at night for no charge (local taxi service is not great). Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Ate breakfast and dinner in the restaurant at King's Hotel. Good service. Pub nice and cosy. Not many staff - and they seemed rushed all the time - but we had great stay and would stay there again. Good spot to base yourself for walks around area - but take an umbrella and coat...!

Romm was OK, Food was OK but because it was very quiet we were required to order and eat earlier than we wanted and we were seated in the reception conservatory not the dining room.
The hotel landlord was serving in the near empty bar and was drunk and abusive. we were also threatened with being locked out if we did not get from the bar and through the front door by midnight.
