Myself, my husband and our three year old son have just come home from a four night stay in a teepee at the Locj tay Highland Lodges. We stayed in Ben Ledi and found the teepee very warm and clean. It consisted of the main room which had a sofa bed (a little less width than a normal double bed), a fold down dining table and chairs, an armchair and a coffee table. Off this room there were three extra small rooms - a kitchen, shower room and a bunk room. The kitchen was basic but clean and had a microwave, sink, two rings but no oven. Utensils were provided but we had only one tea spoon and no knives so had to borrow these from the campers kitchen. The bathroom had sink, toilet and shower - was small but adequate and the shower was suprisingly good. Lots of hot water. The bunk room was just that - a small recess just big enough for a set on wooden bunk beds to fit. Our three year old loved it and because it was recessed it allowed us some provicy when he went to bed and it also stayed pretty dark. All in all we were pretty impressed wth the teepee.
The site had a great relaxed feel to it and the grounds were really well kept. The viws of the loch were gorgeous. We strolled down to the loch front where the resterant and putting green are and some of the bigger lodges we passed on the way looked amazing. There is a stony beach area and a marina.
We ate in the restaurant the first two nights and would highly recommend it. On a MOnday and Tuesday they have only two waiting staff and one chef on (even though it was packed both nights!) which meant that service was a bit slower than you would hope. We weren't in any rush so it didn't bother us and the two waiting staff were really attentive and nice despite being rushed off tehir feet. the foot was deliscious with massive portions - all in all a great dining experience.
Te park is only a few miles from Killin where if you like some of the restaurants do take away food. We had take out from The Old Smiddy one night which was very good.
There is plenty to do out and about and you couldn't possibly get bored with the beauty of the sounding countryside.
All in all, we had a fine adventure, living in a teepee, exploring the surrounding area and eating fine food. We would definately recommend it :-)
