Where could we go? We had cycled to Killin via Glenogle, using the gorgeous National Cycle Network Route 7 and had been caught in the worst rain/hail/thunderstorm I think I've ever been in, which descended un-forecast out of nowhere. We arrived in Killin soaked, freezing and very, very muddy. 6 of us. The youngest is 12 and we were badly in need of a meal and a de-frost before we started back for Strathyre. But surely no one would want us looking like we did! But I was so wrong. Lynn and the lovely girls at The Old Smiddy were incredibly welcoming, providing not only towels, but a place to change, some clean clothes and even a lift!!! And never has a meal tasted so good. All the food was great (I had the fish and chips - and their description was bang on!), the atmosphere was lovely and we simply couldn't have asked for more. Killin is a gorgeous little place, with the Dochart falls providing a stunning and picturesque backdrop, and the old Smiddy can be considered the heart of the place. Go there and send our love.
