We had read some mixed reviews before staying at the Inversnaid so were a little wary before arriving.

No point in us simply repeating "bloostraveller"'s earlier good review - in fact we have unapologetically borrowed his use of the word unpretentious which describes this good value establishment.

Any hotel is only as good as its staff, and we found the staff at the Inversnaid to be courteous and professional

One particular additional point was the catering for vegetarians which was superior to that offered by many more expensive hotels.

We booked through Lochs and Glens and will undoubtedly do so again!

Having read the reviews of the hotel on this site before I went, I was expecting an awful experience. I must say as a seasoned traveller I have had a wealth of experience of establishments of varying quality. It was my first visit to this area of Scotland and I was unsure of what to expect. I must say I was pleasently surprised. The hotel has a very interesting history and is in an excellent location overlooking Lock Lomond it'self. It is as they say "in the middle of nowhere" and access is via a very long winding road. There is access to the opposite shore via ferry.

It is a no frills establishment and what you see is what you get. I found it clean, comfortable and suitable for my needs. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food is unpretentious and adequate, don't expect Ala cart or gourmet standards it's not that kind of establishment. It is reasonable and I have nothing negative to say about it. I will add there was choice and they were able to cater for different dietry needs.

When you consider the cost of our 4 night stay was arround £130.00, bed breakfast and evening meal is a bargain indeed.

There is an excellent selection of very reasonably priced quality malt whiskeys behind the bar and I found the bar prices in general to be very reasonable.

I stayed with a party of 4 who equaly found it a pleasent experience.

The question is as always, would I stay there again? and my answer; yes without question.

Passed through this establishment on a few occasions, but always find the staff discurteous and the food appalling. I even had a lunch served on polystyrene dishes at one time!

It could be lovely, but sadly the place needs completely overhauled - staffing wise anyway!

we decided to go on a tinsel and mistletoe 5 day break to this hotel, with locks and glens coach tours, it was one of the best breaks that we have been one. the hotel cannot be faulted for service, food or entertainment. the inversnaid hotel is on the side of loch lomand there is nothing around it, so if you want to get a daily paper etc forget it ,it is that remote. the last 19 miles on the coach is along a singe track road which seems to take ages on the bus, but most of the time the bus stops at aberfoyle after each daily trip( if you wish to go on one) and you catch a small ferry across the loch which is just over a mile right to the hotel, this was all included in the holiday price.one morning the surrounding mountains were covered in show which was truly a magical site, as i have already stated our party cannot fault this place and that went with the majority of the folks on our bus.
