“Excellent evening at la barca”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013 via mobile

Had a lovely meal in a really nicely styled restaurant.
Food was fantastic only quibble would be the price of the wine. We had 2 glasses of wine each and this came to a third of our overall bill.
Excellent service and would visit again and recommend.
Best to book in advance as does fill up quickly.

“Good food and prompt service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

I have eaten here a few times with friends and family, the food is good quality and well presented. The staff are helpful and all seem to be happy. They have a good range of gluten free and the tapas are fairly priced. I have only eaten here in the evening and although it is usually full the service is prompt and attentive.

“tapas a l'ecosse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Nothing can compare with the Tapas scene in such places as San Sebastian but the effort is good. All sitting down rather than standing but varied little dishes allow one to graze and share different flavours. Wine list extensive enough with a few nice surprises - a Douro, not too expensive but very gluggable. Service extremely friendly and efficient despite a very full restaurent (on a Thursday evening!)

“La Barca-Excellent but not Barca friendly? :-)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Ambience excellent! Busy staff, though could (for me) be a tad friendlier/chattier? Suppose they were rather busy, but... Food superb - we followed a Shared meat and cheese starter, with 4 Tapas' dishes...and the prawns and meat stew were particularly wonderful; creme to finish. San Miguel on draught - yum (though rather large heads of froth?) and the choice of wines excellent (a tad expensive?) as were the Cava-Sangria and Temperanillo. 8pm visit and the views across the River Clyde at night were surprisingly impressive. No 'Smoking' area so I had to stand outside - and there were no Stubber-plates attached to the restaurant wall! tba? Toilets excellent Falcon porcelain and Kangarillo driers brill. Had taken wife on her birthday but should have mentioned this when reserving as they do do a sombrero + guitar sing-song. Varied clientel from couples to SpecOccasn groups to families and as I said - busy. Nice bar area also. Had worn a Barcelona FC top (and brought another in case they wanted to put one up on a wall) but not even a comment from staff, who did seem to be mostly Spanish? :-( Walls however seemed to be covered with (local?) Art and all(?) were buyable which I liked! A most enjoyable experience! Train Service nearby.

“"Yummy!"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

We went with some trepidation with three children in tow, but it was a grey day and we felt the town was a bit run down so were delighted to walk into a warm gently buzzing atmosphere. There was something for everyone, (and LOADS of garlic!!) although if you have the three or four dishes each it can become a bit pricey per head for what it is...The waiters were lovely and the general ambience was very pleasant, The main course selection was fab with tempura batter as light as light, however the caramel custard was a big let down with no evidence of cinnamon (or much else!)to the three of us that had it. The creme brulee however got the thumbs up and the green tea was delish! I was looking forward to looking at the view but there was work going on next door and two white vans blocked the windows which was a slight let down! Saying all that, we would recommend it and will definitely return!
