“Green Shadows B & B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

We were a party of four adults and this was the first night's stop on the WHW. The location of Green Shadows is some distance from the centre of Drymen but in the most beautiful setting and our room had elevated views over the golf course and the hills beyond. Gail was an excellent host, helpful and informative, which was crucial particularly in her advice about where to eat in on a Bank Holiday Saturday and how to secure a table! Our room was very well appointed with a a good shower and all spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent and Gail had made a special effort to provide mushrooms and baked beans (not normally part of a Scottish breakfast we understood) for two of our number in response to a request the evening before. Only one small suggestion would be the provision of fuller pillows, ours were a little thin.
We would certainly recommend Green Shadows for a WHW stopover or a longer stay; it was the best we stayed at until we reached Fort William.

4 of us recently completed the west higland and on a daily basis scored the Bed and Breakfasts on route , the Greenshadows came out top on all points of scoring , the breakfast was lovely , freshly prepared fruit was a treat before a hard days walk , the beds were very comfortable , I think i had my best nights sleep of the whole trip at greenshadows , Gail went out of her way to pick us up in Drymen in the afternoon after we'd finished our walking for the day , took us to Greenshadows , then drove us back into Drymen for and evening meal , then came and picked us back up when we'd finished , then the following morning dropped us back at the next section of the WHW , just fantastic location and hospitalilty - we'll definatly be back sometime for a longer stay.
If your walking the WHW or not you won't get much better than greenshadows

Beautiful, quiet, cozy, and relaxing. Gail was a wonderful hostess and a great cook. Can't imagine spending our first night on the WHW any other way.

Green Shadows is a bright and clean B and B run by the friendly landlady Gail. Gail went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. Her house is in a beautiful position with lovely views. It is some way out from town though so you will need transport to reach your evening meal. I would recoomend a stay here.

Green shadows was the first stop on our West Highland Way trip and Gail could not have been more welcoming. We were picked up after a phone call and Gail was great about ferrying up back and forth to the village and the walk the following day.

The room was very comfortable - nice big comfortable bed and quality ensuite shower. Gail recommended good place for dinner in the village.

Breakfast was fabulous, wide choice and high quality ingredients. All well presented.

Gail is a lovely warm lady - available but not obtrusive. Out of the eight places we stayed, Gail was the best host by far

There is a request that you do not watch TV in your room after 10pm - this is for the benefit of other guests - it should be mentioned though that there is a TV room where you can watch till the wee small hours should you so wish. I would suggest that this is a B&B not a hotel and half the charm is the fact you are in someone else home.

Highly recommended

Great location, although a little out of the way if you don't have a car. Lisa (the owner) made up for this minor discrepancy by picking us up and dropping whenever needed. We were made to feel royal, and the scenery around the area is just stunning!

What an end to our first day of walking on the West Highland Way. One of the best B&B's I have stayed in. Gail does a fantastic job. First class accommodation and first class breakfast as well as a much appreciated taxi service. Will definately stay there again when back in the area.
