We love Scotland and we have had so many great experiences in other places over the past 2 years that I think it is reason that this time,
it was quite an ordinary stay.

The hotel from the outside is great. It is huge and the spa/gym facilities are super and modern. Unfortunately, the rest of the hotel is quite dated: peeling paint in breakfast room; our room was big but the heating in the bathroom didn't work (and it was snowy and cold outside this January); also, they have a very lovely lounge, but most of the seats seem to have lost all support.

We didn't try the restaurant for lunch nor dinner but we did have our breakfast there both mornings and unfortunately, again, it was one of the worse cooked Scottish breakfast I have ever had (cold toasts, poached egg that was almost boiled, cold and soggy potato scone, etc.). The staff was so young and unexperienced that they seemed unable to manage a half full breakfast room. Compared to other hotels/
B&B in the area, I would not recommend it. There are other places around just a great to enjoy Loch Lomond and where you can also find better pubs and restaurants around to eat something (the pub across the street from Buchanan Arms was quite awful too...)

We have just spent a couple of days at the Buchanan Arms. I can't fault it in any way...it seems to have been taken over and the new owners are striving to improve the hotel in all areas. to my mind there is not alot more they could do...the service is excellent, rooms great and the food and service in the restaurant is of an outstanding standard. The raspberry mousse is to die for!.
It is a warm and welcoming hotel...to sit in the lounge on the gorgeously shabby tartan sofas(that is a compliment!) with a brandy and a pile of magazines is heaven.
An ideal place to get away from it all but have lots to do and see on your doorstep.
We are planning to go next year and take visitors from abroad and also with a group of friends...why look for anything else when you know you will have everything you could want at The Buchanan Arms.

This was our second stay in this hotel, having visited it 2 years ago. It is a pleasant hotel to stay in. The staff are polite and friendly. The room was fairly small but comfortable. The bathroom was perhaps a little jaded but the shower was great! The pool and spa area are very nice and again the staff were very friendly.. A new sauna has been fitted by the pool since we were last here. This is an improvement as last time the sauna's were in the separate changing rooms. Its a great location for touring loch lomond. We would stay here again.

I booked this hotel for my mother in law. I thought it would be a great surprise for her 60th birthday to book a MURDER MYSTERY WEEKEND. My husband drove to the hotel to check it out and book personnally, he was quite impressed with this cosy wee hotel and friendly staff who booked the hotel and gave him confirmation and a print out to put in his mothers birthday card.
My mother in law was very pleased and called the hotel right away to book a weekend. This was in February and the first available date was the end of June. Surprised but happy that the hotel was so popular she booked for June.
The day before she was due to arrive my mother in law called to make sure everything was set for her arrival.
JUST AS WELL SHE DID "We have no details of your booking madam'"said the receptionist. She was LIVID.What would they have done if she had turned up on the day she was booked for?

The hotel insisted it was their policy that customers write in to confirm their booking!!!!!!!!!!!

NO APOLOGY from anyone at the hotel.

After a few choice words and numerous phonecalls the manager offered a stay in November and champagne in the room.NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
She demanded her money back and is now going to book another hotel.

we are dissapointed and have never come accross such a policy in any other hotel.
