“warm and friendly hotel the staff without exception where efficient polite and helpful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

I have often heard the expression singing from the same hymn sheet. I would apply it to the staff at the Winnock - lovely people, really great service.
The log fires featured on their website actually exist and create a truly wonderful ambiance.
Our room was large and airy - its great to have windows that you can actually open and central heating that you can turn off or put on if needed. The beds where clean and comfortable.
The food was outstanding, both in presentation and quality. This applied to all courses. We liked the fact our hot main course always came on a good hot plate. (sadly this is often not the case in restaurants, many times I have been told be careful the plate is hot only to find it is actually cold). The haggis was the best I ever tasted. Really lovely breakfasts. Porridge was good too.
Drymen is in a lovely location with all the amenities - post office, bank, butchers, interesting little shops. Regular bus service.

Stayed here for a 3 night DB&B deal. Our room was large and well-furnished and although it was above the kitchens, it was very quiet. The bathroom was large and modern although the shower head was positioned very low on the wall and it was not possible to adjust it. Dinner was very good, with a nice choice of dishes each night. My only complaint was that the dessert was served in very small bowls and made it difficult to scoop out all the delicious pudding. Breakfast was also very good, with plenty to eat, both continental and cooked.

Although a coach party was staying at the hotel, this did not cause any delay to service. There was a mix-up as we checked out with us being charged for a bottle of wine we did not have. However this was quickly sorted out.

The Winnock is a lovely traditional hotel in an excellent location for visiting the countryside and Glasgow.

Arrived late after a long drive up from Devon, very friendly welcome into a warm and inviting hotel. The first visit to Scotland for my wife and daughter and this hotel gave them a traditional start to our holiday. As we were travelling around Scotland we only stayed 1 night. Room was large and comfortable for the 3 of us, was clean with good facilities. Although we hadn't booked and the restaurant was very busy we were found a table. A great meal at great value. The traditional Scottish breakfast was excellent, without a doubt the best we had on the holiday.

A lovely hotel. Nice rooms, lovely staff, food was great and reasonably price. The only downside for us was the banging of doors. The Roos around us were occupied by a family who has an ill child through the night but in going between their three rooms in the middle of the night every time they let the door shut it banged and woke us. Clearly the doors shut so strongly for fire regulation standards but it was very noisy.

Super location at the bottom of Loch Lomond. Set on village green alongside other pubs made for good evening entertainment. Looks like an old coaching inn from the front but has extensive buildings on the back. Room 92 clean, well presented and well equipped. Restaurant simply superb with atmosphere and great food. Staff could have been sharper (wrong wine, lost wine cupboard keys, meals to wrong tables) and more attentive but this is just an observation and not really a complaint because they were so pleasant and eager to please when we managed to catch their eye. Great breakfast with lots of choice. Free wifi accessible only in reception area. Bar very lively and comfortable with entertainment on our Saturday night stay. Only real criticism is noise from slamming bedroom doors that woke us throughout the night - I think this could be fixed easily with slow shutting mechanisms?. Despite this, I would definitely stay here again.

We were a team of 13 sales staff who work within the travel industry and I have to say what a superb stay, great rooms, service & staff. The food was absolutely first class. The Winnock signature pie is highly recommended!!!! Fantastic Scottish entertainment. A really traditional stay at the Winnock, within great driving access to all the attractions Scotland is so well known for.

Room Tip: All the rooms my party stayed in were of a good standard
