“Amazing hotel - Unique, away from the maddening crowd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Birthday present from my wife. She upgraded to one of the special rooms, which had an enormous bathroom which includes a steam room which was wonderful and worth the additional costs alone. The weather was stunning for March and will went for a long walk and relaxed in the room - tv didn't work, but we weren't really bothered,as this is a hotel to get away from normal life. Great cocktails pre-meal, dinner was stunning, romantic setting, friendly service (although one waiter was a little bizarre - the service in general I feel treads a fine line between friendly and being over familiar - in general, this works, but one waiter in particular seemed to pitch it at the wrong level!). The brand of Mhor is fantastic - we have regular visits to Mhor Fish as a family, plus Mhor bread is great and the hotel has to be experienced to be believed but bare in mind that this isn't a corporate Hilton/Radisson/Holiday Inn offering, so soak up the surroundings, wake up your palate and relax!

Room Tip: Up grade your room and make it memorable and relax

we thought the food and the service of the food 1st class.tables were cramped and cutlery utility when one is paying £50 per head for dinner it seems surprising!our bedroom had a great view, but the jacuzi pumped out foul smelling water and the shower was cold in the morning. The radiator was too cold to dry any towels.

We stayed for 2 nights at Mhor - what a brilliant experience. Room was stunning, staff absolutely brilliant (really knew their stuff), food just wonderful and location perfect! We also had tea at the tea shop, sandwiches at the bakery and fish from the chippie - all lived up to expectations!

We wanted a break away and found this place on the Internet, the website captures just some of the magic. The remote location may not suit all but was perfect for us, just the loch and hills. They were very accommodating at very short notice and we immediately felt at home, we stayed in room 1 which was small but well equipped and looked out on the loch. Tom, Lisa and the team deliver a first class product, not cheap but worth every penny. The food is some of the best we have ever had, and James knows a thing or two about wine. The service is first rate, friendly and professional yet unobtrusive. Our only regret...having to leave.

Room Tip: The courtyard rooms are larger, but from what we saw all are well fitted out and quirky

We passed a delightful afternoon sitting on the patio of this hotel! World class food while watching a field of Highland sheep!! Well worth the beautiful drive. We visited Rob Roy Macgregor's grave nearby and enjoyed a lovely hike! A most exceptional
day!!

What more can be said? Such wonderful, helpful staff in this highland setting. The rooms are all unique but fabulous. Breakfast looking out onto the hills. The evening meals are high quality local fare cooked to perfection. Breakfast looking out onto the hills. Such gorgeous surroundings.

This is luxury Highlands at its very best. It is the staff that make it perfect. So friendly and helpful, yet their attention to detail and organization is outstanding.

Do not underestimate the time it takes to get to the hotel from Calendar, it is a single track road and could take up to an hour. It is, however, a very scenic route. So relax, you'll get there.. can't wait to travel there again.

Room Tip: There are a variety of rooms to choose from in different parts of the hotel. All are quiet (you are...

Had Sunday lunch at the Monachyle during a recent trip to Scotland.
Quite a trip to find and well off the beaten track but worth the visit.
Myself and my wife opted for the £32 3 course sunday lunch. All the food is locally sourced and of excellent quality. Well worth the vist.
