“Wonderful place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

My husband and sister in law were cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats and I joined them for a few days for the Scottish part. I arrived first at Woodvale and was made very welcome by Alison. Unfortunately my sister in law had fallen off her bike and so arrived in the support vehicle driven by her partner. Alison was very supportive of how she must be feeling. When my husband arrived wet and cold she offered to rinse and dry his wet gear and showed him where he could clean and store his bike. The rooms were clean, comfortable and warm. There was plenty of hot water and she get us off in the right direction for the meal we had booked. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, both the continental and the cooked. The fresh pastries were lovely. My sister in law plans to return to complete the 1000 miles and we will all happily stay here again. The attic room was small with a separate but large bathroom which was great. The other double room with en-suite could not be faulted.

A couple of days my friend and I arrived in Balloch. It was late evening and we didn't have any place to stay. In first three B&Bs they had no vacancies and we were just about to give up, leave the town and look for some place to set up our tent, but then we decided to walk a little bit further. We knocked on the Woodvale's door and then we met Alison. She greeted us very warmly and said that she still had one room that would perfectly suit our needs. Now I can say that it was the luckiest moment of our 2-week trip and Woodvale was the best B&B we have ever stayed in! Alison was very kind and helpful, and on the next day, when we woke up and it was windy and raining, and we really had no idea what to do, she offered us the help of her husband who drove us to the foot of the Cobbler mountain where we started our hike. And thanks to them we had another great day in a beautiful Scotland!

After the extreme hike (rain, strong wind and even hail) we returned to Balloch to spend another night at Woodvale. On the next day we had to leave to continue our trip, but if any of us is in Balloch is in Balloch again, we will definitely come back to Alison and her great B&B. I am completely recommending this place!

Four of us stayed two nights in this delightful B&B for our friends wedding.
Alison the owner made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of information on good places to eat and drink. she organized taxis for us and cooks a fantastic breakfast remembering our preferences.
The beds are comfy, the rooms and bathroom were clean and tidy and tastefully decorated.
There is free wifi that you can connect to which was brilliant.
Alison is an excellent host and will go out of her way to make your stay extremely pleasant.
I would come back here to stay again.

We stayed for two nights on a weekend trip to Loch Lomond. This is an exceptional B&B. Our room was comfortable and clean. Alison was welcoming, helpful and friendly. Her breakfast was delicious. Freshly cooked and with plenty of choice. We will definitely return, sooner rather than later! Thank you Alison for a memorable stay.

We stayed for 2 nights while visiting Scotland for a friends wedding. Alison made us feel very welcome and couldn't have done more for us. Going out of her way to book us taxis and tell us local places to eat and drink and see. Helpful and attentive and her breakfasts are just scrumptious.
Rooms are pristine and comfortable and we couldn't have asked for more. Brilliantly located just literally a few mins walk from the centre of Balloch.
Will definitely be returning here again x

We stayed for only one night for a last minute trip up to Loch Lomond and luckily Alison had a vacancy! The B & B is very picturesque and peaceful in an ideal setting on Drymen Road, only 5 minutes walk from Central Balloch. Our double/family room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable and even at night it was super quiet. The shower was large and piping hot and bathroom extra spacious. A peaceful sleep was had by all at the Woodvale. Alison is a superb host and looked after us so well we didn't want to leave! The Woodvale is an excellent place to stay and would highly recommend it for travellers, families and couples alike.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good!

We only stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Alison, the owner, is a lovely bubbly lady who made us very welcome. The room was spotless and inviting and we enjoyed one of the best night's sleep we have had in ages. Our breakfasts were top quality and delicious. What a smashing Place to stay. We thoroughly recommend.
