We stayed one night on our way to the north of Scotland
A very good welcome on arrival and we were given a large room with a four-poster bed overlooking the loch
The room itself was dark but well appointed
Dinner was very good as was breakfast
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Thoroughly recommended

I would love to tell you about this hotel but, unfortunately, when we arrived last weekend, the hotel had messed up our booking and given our room to someone with a similar name. Although the women given the task of dealing with us was extremely apologetic and did offer to find a room in a local bed & breakfast, it didn't alter the fact that my wife and I had driven 95 miles, only to be turned away. Mind you, after experiencing the toilets in the bar area, we weren't sure how disappointed we should be.

If you do decide to stay here, take my advice, insist on a written confirmation of your booking.

I booked rooms at the Village Inn solely on the merit of the hotel website's description, without any endorsements from trip advisor or travel guides, so I was a bit nervous before we arrived for our 2 night stay. However, this was an instance when the hotel had described itself perfectly and the minute we drove up and registered I knew that we had discovered a little gem off the beaten path. The food was local Scottish fish, meat and vegetables, served with quite a nice flair and we ate our evening meals there both nights of our stay. The busy restaurant and pub are rustic and quaint with wooden beams, well worn but polished antique tables and creaky floors, and both are popular with locals and tourists alike. The rooms were comfortable and seemed to have been recently renovated. The location is outstanding as one can sit outside in the garden, relax and enjoy lochside views. All of these features would have been more than enough to keep us happy, but what really made the Village Inn memorable for us was the staff, in particular Peter, Claire and Sean, who did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Peter is a young man from South Africa and we had some fascinating conversations with him about his homeland. Claire is a young woman from Newcastle and Sean is a local fellow who mainly works the pub. As most travelers know, when one discovers such a comfortable charming place it is hard to leave, but we will always look back on our stay with such lovely memories. This is an inn where the tradition of Scottish hospitality coupled with a charming atmosphere, friendly staff and hearty food and drink are alive and well. Arrochar is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth a visit and is within driving distance to all the sites around Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.

“The Perfect Scottish Inn”

The Village Inn

Pefectly charming, in fact. We found this ideal and idyllic Inn after having seen the Swallow Arrochar Hotel, which we had booked in advance but which was the worst. The local Tourist Office guided us to the Village Inn, and we can never thank them enough. The Inn is centuries old, but in pristine condition. The rooms are lovely; ours had beautiful views of Loch Long. They have been renovated with all the mod cons, and are very clean. The staff was delightful, the meals were terrific, and the Inn's location is a great base for exploring the Highlands. Don't miss it!

Went here for a night with my wife for her birthday following a recommendation by a friend. Check-in was a little quirky but everything else superb. Fantastic food, reasonably priced, excellent service and the room was fine. The beer was also superb from the local Fyne Ales brewery, as suggested by it's Good Beer Guide recommendation.
